OT Photo Shop Help

So I finally made up my mind and got the newest photoshop.  And now... I can't find anything.  I need to add a second photo to the first photo and for the life of me I cannnot find anyway to do it.  In elements you can pull up a small strip with all the photos you have open and just drag and drop it onto another file.  The new one pulls up a separate window and nothing I do allows me to merge them.  Feeling very frustrated at this point.  I'm sure its super simple and I will get used to it but right now the new layout is driving me crazy.

....if you look at your toolbar you'll see your first image...whateverpsd and your second image, just click on the image you are working on and pull the second image down and across onto your main image.  The toobar is sticky so you can slide images up there and pull them down as you need them....hope this is clear...it drove me crazy when I started with the new ps too;)

One way to open a file and put various images into it as layers is to use a script.  http://prntscr.com/crxvp6  Select the script and all the images you want, and it will open with each image on a separate layer.

You can select the image that you to copy (Control + A)...make sure you are on the right layer..then choose copy (Control + C), then move to the image you want to add the image to and paste it (Control + V).

    Or

You can use the move tool, click on the image you want to transfer, drag it up to bar where the file names are and move your mouse over the file name of the image where you want the transfer to occur. That image should open on the screen and then while still holding the mouse down, move the cursor into the image and then release the mouse and you should see the image you want to move added to the second one.

Go to the image you want a copy of and Select >> All

    Then Edit >> Copy

Then go to the image you want the copy on top of

    Then Edit >> Paste

(KevinH also gave the shortcuts for that). :)

Thank you.  But the tabs that usually show the different images aren't there.  Not at the top, bottom or side.

I don't know how the online version works but you can have the images open in the same window which shows the tabs or in separate windows which opens them behind each other if you have them set to cascade. Select the two images you want and open them then use the move tool to move one from one window and drop it into the other window. If it is the wrong one on top then move it down in the layers window.

Edit-Preferences-Interface should have a tickbox to 'open images as tabs'.

A couple other potentially helpful things to know:

If you use the Move Tool to drag and drop an image from one file to another as described above, holding the Shift key when you release the mouse button will automatically center the dropped image. This is especially handy when both images are the same size as it ensures they are perfectly aligned.

Another way to load a bunch of files as layers in a single document is to start in Photoshop and go to "File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack..." This will open a browse dialog box that lets you grab as many images as you want, from as many different folder as necessary, loading them all into the dialog window before clicking OK. It even has the option to load them all as Smart Objects, which is convenient. If you're a Lightroom user (and depending on what Adobe Cloud option you chose, you may have access to LR along with PS), you can select a bunch of images within LR and then right-click on one and choose to load all of them as layer in PS (handy if you're bringing a bunch of Raw file variations into PS for retouching/compositing).

Sorry I missed the last three replies!  I did finally find the option to have the tabs on the top so I am able to now drag and drop.  Still learing my way around the interface its a LOT different than the elements program as far as layout etc.  I'm slowly finding things though lol.  Thanks so much for the help and the tips its greatly appreciated!
