All My Content Disappeared from the DAZ Studio Content Library

I opened DAZ Studio and my Content Library is empty.  It's gone, or missing, or invisible.  I've closed and reopened the program 5 times, and it's still gone.  There's been thousands of items in the content library.  Where did it go?  How can I get it back?  (it's till there in the Smart Content pane).

Thanks!

Thank you for posting the link. Yes, that was what the problem, and solution were.  But - now I can see the list of folders, but when I click on a folder that is suppose to show me content - there's nothing there.

You have your Runtime folder defined as a Daz Studio Format content folder.  Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager and remove the 2 Runtime folders from the list of DS-format content folders.  The folder CONTAINING those runtimes should be listed as Poser-format content folders (if there is also DS-format content ALONGSIDE the Runtime folder, then the folder CONTAINING the Runtime folder should be listed as BOTHG DS-format and Poser-format).

Thanks for helping.  I was able to remove the Runtime folder from the Daz Studio Formats.  That Runtime folder is on my computer in the folder My DAZ 3D Library, but for some reason it doesn't show up there in the Content Library.  I don't know how to get DAZ Studio to show the folder.

  • It shouldn't show up in the content library that is actually where your Poser Formats are.  The runtime IS the Poser Formats section.  What you have looks correct to me as long as there is content in the poser formats section

The folder "My DAZ 3D Library" should be listed under both Daz Studio Formats and Poser Formats, then the Runtime libraries (Runtime/Libraries/Pose, Runtime/Libraries/Props, etc.) will show up under Poser Formats.

In short, when you install poser stuff, the product lives in a runtime which will inside a geometry folder, texture folder, pose folder, hair folder etc. Daz Studio products have a library which will contain a data folder, people folder, scripts folder, light preset etc...  The Daz product may also have a textures folder in a runtime.  Use content manager to point the Daz Studio formats to the Daz studio library folder containing the data folder, and the Poser Format to the folders to the runtimes.  If you are using Smart content, there are some additional folders to be aware of; the download folder where the product is downloaded to and the manifest folder which contains the info about specfic products, as well as Connect which places the encrypted folders into a data folder and creates a virtual library folder so that you can access stuff as if the products were placed directly in the library folder.  It is important to remember that Daz Studio and Poser do not share the same file structure (think of them as having a relationship like painters and photographers i.e. both can do a portrait but the tools, method, and results are different).

In the base file folder on his computer right? Not on the actual screen he is looking at when he is using Studio?  Inside Studio I don't have a runtime folder showing. I have poser formats/ my DAZ 3 library then /figures, poses props etc.

That's correct, the folder named "Runtime" doesn't appear in the folder tree inside Daz Studio.

  • Whew I got worried there for a minute. Thanks!
