Pro - starter bundles, worth to buy now?

Ok, a bit of a serious thought / subject on my account......doesn't happen much.....
In the past, I did buy pro bundles quite regular when released - usually impulse buys. As of late, not so much anymore. Although budget is certainly a substantial part for the reason not to buy directly anymore, another important part - for me - is that bundles tend to be too much a bit of everything. A lot of items in a bundle are not really too my interest and not related to one other, or the character they are released with. Also the new characters that are the 'reason' for launching the bundles appear to be just another G3 variant, not really a new, different shape. As such bundles - again for me - only become worth while later, when in a 'deep' sale of some sorts.
Personally I would love to see more themed bundles, maybe smaller in number of items, but with the items better related to one another. Be it fantasy, casual, gothic, pinup, whatever the fancy..... Just my 2 cents.
Anyone any thought on this?

Thats kind of an interesting idea. Themed bundles. Im not sure it would change my spending habits. I tend to buy a single pro bundle for the anatomical elements just in case I do a nude render but other than that I usually just stick with a starter bundle. My problem with the pro bundles is that there are too many pose packs and too many characters that I may have little to no interest in. There should be morph packs in pro bundles.
On the other hand, if there was a selection of cool themed products in a pro bundle, they would be alot more fun. Of course, if we could assemble our own pro bundle to tailor our specific needs, that would certainly interest me in shelling out more cash. As they are now, I feel that pro bundles are always a balancing act between the items I would enjoy and the ones im willing to just accept because I need a pro bundle.
I love to see Theme bundles
I buy pro bundles only if I like at least 75 percent of the stuff that's in it. But I already have enough cheesecake poses and fantasy/sexy clothes. I'd like to see more hair and less poses or poses that have use, like a lot of ironman13's, feral fey's or blondie9999's pose sets, and more "normal" clothes ;).

It really comes down to what's in the bundles. If you want to get the "Anatomical Elements", you have to buy at least one Pro Bundle for that sex of that generation of character, but otherwise it comes down to what's a better deal for you. If you're in the PC+, these days most Pro Bundles will drop into the $40-50 range during most major sales. Since the average new Pro Bundle contains 11 items, that';s $3.53 to $4.54 each. Not a bad individual price, assuming that you want all of them. By comparison, the starter budles will be selling in the $26-$33 range and contain an average of 6 items, so that's $4.33-$5.50 but you're spending $15-20 less in the initial purchase. My own experience, as of late, has been that a lot of the additional items in the Pro Bundles are things that I have little interest in, so I'll pick up the Starter Bundle instead. When I pick up the character at all... I'm still two short on the full Genesis 2 set and about six or seven behind on the G3s to date...
The thing about pro bundles is that you really need to use the entire pro bundle's contents to justify its purchase. This is, of course, excluding the frequent promotions that surround new figures -- ie. buying this Pro bundle will give you a discount on that Pro bundle down the road.
For example, I bought Star 7's pro (stellar) bundle explicitly because it gave an extra discount for the first three days of the PA sale. Looking back, I'm not sure if it was the best choice...
I guess this goes back to purchasing strategy too: buying only what you need will likely be less costly than buying on value.
Disclaimer: I don't use DS.
Not too long ago, DAZ had an interesting sale. There were a lot of Poser content bundles that I had never bothered purchasing. So, I took advantage of the sale prices for these bundled products.
I bought close to $500.00 (list) worth of bundled products for $36.00 during that sale.
So, is it worth buying bundles, especially if they're on sale? Absolutely. Is it worth buying bundles if you're not going to ever use the majority of their content? No. But, how many people can make an accurate prediction on what they'd "never" do? Not many. :)
DAZ is using the "discount" sales model. Think of the marketing and sales model that J.C.Penny (United States) uses. A couple of years ago, J.C. Penny attempted to divorce itself from this model and they failed, horribly. (Partly due to the economic crunch, though.) DAZ also varies their "discount" very highly, with prices for certain "push" items getting several different discount rates. (Some categories of item, however, only rarely vary in discount rate from promotion to promotion period.) What this means to any DAZ customer is pretty simple - Do not buy anything unless it is on sale or you absolutely have to have it right at that moment. Period. End of line....
TLDR: If it's not on sale, don't buy it. If it's on sale, is the unit price reasonable and will one be getting a good return for each item in the bundle? If so, buy it if you wish. Never, ever, pay full price for anything unless it's critical that you have it, as it will eventually get put on sale sometime. (There are only a very few exceptions to this rule where certain items may only see modest sales discounts during one or two promotion periods a year.)
Too true. This is why things like repetitive pose sets and extremely stylized fantasy and sci-fi outfits and hair are often major turnoffs for me. They may be cool and interesting, but will I ever actually have a use for them? On the other hand, I've got no problem with having several dozen different kinds of jeans and cuts of shirt because that's what people wear in real life. At least we seem to be out of that period where most of the outfits that came with the male character Pro Bundles were either missing sleeves or completely shirtless.
These days I don't buy the Pro bundles, there are just too many items I don't or can't use. On the other hand, character bundles (like the Cathy bundle: http://www.daz3d.com/cathy-bundle) are almost always an instant buy for me. Now if I could just find time to render them all...
