.mi iray file export - useable? (Daz Studio)

So I saw you can export .mi iray files for rendering, but can't find any way to render the files. Anyone know if there's a .exe standalone renderer I'm missing from the obvious hiding places? A test export is certainly big enough for a renderable .mi file (48Mb). Seems to me that this would be an ideal way to render remotely. Or is the export option just there for show?

(.mi files are like .rib files, originally for rendering in Mental Ray but now also for iray)

Stand-alone Iray is, I think, about $300 for a 1 year license.
