FREE Upgrade from HeadShop 10 WIN to 10.2 (Commercial)

Just uploaded to DAZ store an absolutely FREE upgrade to HeadShop 10 WIN.

Why Upgrade?

Our development philosophy is simple with each new version: 1. Make the software more user-friendly by simplifying operations. 2. Make the output better with every new release.

Compared to the previous release HeadShop 10.0, HeadShop 10.2 offers two important upgrades and changes.

1. Simplification of the set-up process from two screens to a single screen. Add headshape dots to get the correct headshape right from the start

2. Combination of shapedots and texture dots on work area. Now the same dots move both.

These improvements result in 50% less steps and better head-shapes at the output. We have also updated the manual and fixed some How-to video links.

I hope you enjoy the improvements!

So if I download and install from my Product Libray, should that be the 10.2 update? The dates of the files in the Zip are June 2016.

Not yet. DAZ has to publish the free upgrade first. Takes a few days. I'll keep you posted.

    Great. Thanks for the reply.

  • Thanks for the upgrade!  I'm glad to know that you are continuing to improve the software.

I haven't watched the new tutorials yet.  But, I do like the way that the combined auto  / shape dots quickly get the head to the basic face shape.  I still cannot get the line tool to work correctly.  It usually will squash the model when I try to apply it.  The results are generally unpredictable.

I tried to outline a nose in the front view and when applied the model was mangled.

The starting points on the profile usually show up either above or below the scalp line.  I'm not sure what is causing this.  But, I think it has to do with how the initial parameter box is applied.  Bringing down the size of the scalp in the front view seems to throw off the geometry in the profile view.

This results in a very strange looking head when applying the tool.

Is there a way to move the blue starting and stopping points so that they line up correctly?

To answer the last question first: the profile starting and ending blue dots reflect your initial setting the top-of-head and chin brace on the set-up window.

Overall, it is a great idea to watch the how-to videos, as they answer all your questions.

Lastly, I usually use the drawing tool for the mouth (see video). Sometime it comes out looking funny, but that is easy to remedy.

  • Thanks,  I did watch all the new tutorials.  I don't quite understand the usage of the side points during setup.  Are they intended to show a relative position like were the eyes are located vertically, or do they point to the edge of the face?  A little clarification would be helpful.

Also, I tried to repair a warped eye by reopening a project and correcting, then re-exporting.  However, the change wasn't reflected upon export.  Do I need to delete a file or something to make sure the correction will be applied?
