Genesis 1 mouth won't close all the way...

I used a canned facial expression on a Gen 1 character, and then opened the mouth a little more. Upon trying to zero the head and expression, the mouth is still somewhat open though all the parameters are zeroed. I recall having had this happen before, but can't remember how I overcame it. Any ideas?

Thanks.

That's odd, I don't think I've had that issue. Maybe dial the mouth open pose to a negative number?

Tried that, as well as playing with the parameters. No good.

Enable show hidden in the parameters pane and see if there's something in there causing it. Is this in the viewport, or @ render time only?

  • How did you zero the head and expression?  Best way is Edit>Figure>Zero> and then it gives you several options.  If you only want the expressions zeroed, select Zero>Selected Pose and that should zero everything on the selected body part.  Sometimes there is an odd morph not zeroed if you used any of the shaping morphs to open the mouth.  If you zeroed with the what I just said and you still have an open mouth, I would double check all of the mouth morphs under shaping to see if any of them are keeping the mouth open.  It possible, though, that a stray posing morph is not at zero.  I believe there is a way to sort through them to show which ones are in use without going through the whole list because doing it that way makes it easy to miss one.  But, my DS is in the middle of a render so I can't check what that filter might be.

  • After not finding anything based on the suggestions, on a pure whim, I tried to zero using the zero function/utility of a Genesis 2 expression set. Worked like a charm. I can't explain it, but that did the trick. Thanks for the suggestions.
