AprilYSH Iray Hair Color Solutions?

I own most of AprilYSH's store (because she makes great hair!), but since switching to Iray in May, I have discovered that often the included hair colours do not convert well to Iray, nor does the UHT Shader kit solve the problem of whitish hair or grey streaks. I don't own OOT's shader; so, I don't know how that does. Wolfie makes some dyes that work better than anything else, but she does not cover the whole AprilYSH line. Any ideas or experiences would be appreciated.

Hi! Thanks! :) Do you have any of my hairs with iray mats? Ctrl+click to load one of those on the old hair and select Not to replace images and see if that works for you. The material zones are similar in most of my models so it should work for a lot of them. Btw my latest revision are my Kylan hair mats or newer, I tweak them every few hairs, hopefully improving when I do.
Well, the lady herself! Yes, ma'am, I have all of your Genesis 3 hairs except Tatum, Maia, and Geneva. (I'll get Geneva when the Gia 7 Pro Bundle goes on sale.) I will try what you suggest, and thank you for the pointer and your fine creations.
The fix for some of the pre-Iray hair is to select the diffuse map in the surfaces pane, select Image Editor, change Image Gamma from 1 to 0. Repeat for the other maps.
I will try that as well. Thanks, friend.
The OOT hair shader system is my favorite... expecially when used in combination with DT's SSS shaders SSS-only options.
Its highly unlikely that Gamma is set to 1 on a diffuse map. It should be either 2 or 0. I suppose, if you did find that it was 1 you could change it... but I doubt you'll find that.
I have had many instances where something like the right shoe was rendering a lighter or darker color than the left one. First time it happened it almost drove me crazy, until I told my art director about it. His told me to check the gamma on both the texture maps, and sure enough one was at 0 and the other at 1. Since then I have encountered it at least half a dozen times.... so yes, it happens.
Oh yeah, diffuse gamma on my old 3delight mats were set to 1 somehow :( didn't become an issue till iray. (And not sure if DS allows mat presets to change this gamma - at one stage it allowed you to save it in the preset but it wouldn't actually apply - I think that should be fixed in DS by now.)
It's best set to 0 rather than 2 for diffuse so it will follow the user's render setting, then auto convert to iray on tender should work. :)
I've run into it maybe twice (and it was usually incorrect gamma on something other than diffuse). I didn't say it "doesn't happen", I said it was highly unlikely. But since April has acknowledged it appears to be have been an issue on some of her older 3Delight materials, I shall leave it at that.
Micah Hair is an example of one that loads with a diffuse and bump map gamma of 1.
In image 1 is the autoconverted Iray mats without setting gamma to 0. The hair should be brown but renders as blonde/white.
Image 2 is with autoconverted Iray mats with gamma set to 0.
Image 3 is the settings from image 2 with UHT2's keep original textures settings.
So, that IS the culprit. Thank you. I can attest that Julius Hair, North Hair, and Nye Hair also appear like your first image.
