I was wondering how to make a transgender or hermaphrodite character with Genesis 3. which base should I use and how would I blend the genders?

Comments
If you have genx you can easily genx a charactr or morphs of either gender to the opposite gender.
If the character has male gens, then I'd suggest starting with the male base, and vice versa. Genx, and the male/female clones would be useful to alter the body morphology.
Is there a reason you want to use Genesis 3 in particular? This seems like the sort of thing that the original Genesis is much better suited for.
No reason in particular I guess. Maybe I can use Genesis 1 instead of Genesis 3. I forgot about Genesis 1, in a way but did not in another way.
You should study the anatomy so you can place their genitalia realistically if you're doing anything educational. Otherwise they'll look like the rest of us with their clothing on and you really needn't bother with modeling their genitalia. Hermaphrodites aren't the same thing as transgender. Hermaphrodites will have male and female reproductive organs and male and female sex chromosomes, while a psdeudo-hermaphrodite will have ambiguous sexual organs but only the sex chromosomes of one sex or the other. Transgender are one sex that desires to be the other sex.
I think to make it look 'proper' the male and female genitalia should be geografted on...but isn't that the way genitalia work now on Genesis 3 products?
There are also products avaailable to do this for you. Mar3D at Rendo has a great set of "male" morphs for G3F while Poisen and several other artists at Renderotica have various solutions for attaching the naughty bits.
But Genesis 3 has more realistic morphing and rigging quality that Genesis 1 does not. If Kulay Wolf is indeed aiming for realism, then I don't think they'd want them to look doughy. However, if detail isn't a necessity then Genesis 1 would be a more practical choice. Most users have even admitted to reducing their use of the original Genesis to toons and creatures.
Depending on your aim, the above ideas with GenX can suit it.
There are products available at other sites that let you cross genetalia.
On a similar topic, something I was wondering about converting autofit clones from one gender to another...like M4 -> G2M so it's M4->G2F (Or G3M->G2F and so on).
Can this be done simply (like editing a text file) or is it a more complicated procedure?
I am aware transgender and hermaphrodite are not the same. I just thought they would look similar with clothes on. A character of mine is a hermaphrodite but ends up looking like a transgender woman. I have not really decided what that character's anatomical elements look like. I am still trying to figure out the pronouns to use for hermaphrodite. This character is not heterosexual or homosexual as those terms do not really apply to hermaphrodites to my opinion the character would be more omnisexual as s/he is both male and female. The character's name is Ejijah which I pronounce ej ah jah or edge ah jah. When there is a need for masquerade for teran sake s/he goes by Elizabeth Jorden or Elizabeth Jordan.
I'd actually consider hermaphrodites heterosexual, you couldn't really consider them homosexual or bisexual, but I don't know what the medical professional would consider them. Omnisexual is a adjective that really describes something else. If that's the Ejijah personality OK, but it's not caused by the character's hermaphroditism.
Guess I was wrong so s/he would be heterosexual
I suppose the first quested is do you want a Masculine Female or a Feminine Male.
If you wanted to start from a Female base, there are several morph sets which could help you.
A quick search on sharecg for G2F and G3F morphs Male and Female found me these:

Now looking at a recent post on the Forums:
Chech out Star's Running partner about 3/4 the way down the page. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/109051/star-2-0-for-g3f-whoot/p7
This suggests that the Cross Fit packages would give G3M access to the G3F morphs. if I was not rendering a TD3 Scene I would dial one up for you.
If you are looking to create a androgynous male or female, then you should be able to so that with either G3M or G3F.
On the subject of hermaphrodites, it is not a clear cut and dry thing, some hermaphrodites never know thery are not males, while others are very definetly famale. Also as with human tails, the child in this state is often giving "Corrective" surgery to make the child one sex or the other. This may cause issues later in life, as the young male suddely grows a pair and I am not talking about stones. I believe there are several good factual books on the subject.
Haslor
"Intersex" is the commonly used term now for people with physical characteristics of both sexes. Gender is what determines whether someone is "he" or "she," and that's not necessarily linked to physical characteristics - people are assigned a gender at birth based on their physical configuration, or based on the parents' choice if they have ambiguous genitals, but it's not always a match. So your intersex character could be a he or a she, depending on who they are as a person.
I for got a set of Commercial Morph, Mar3D's Boy-Girl Genesis 3 Female
At the very least, you'd be able to create a post-top surgery FTM with Genesis 3 Female, since there is a dial to remove the breasts altogether, and for MTF on Genesis 3 Male, you can dial away the Adam's Apple. As for any other visible physical differences, I strongly recommend asking trans* individuals if they'd feel comfortable giving you input, because it's better to have an informed view rather than going off of stereotypes (however well meaning/intentioned) you are.
Bear in mind that some, though not all, go through the physical surgery aspect of it... but that's an entirely different kettle of fish.
(While we're on the subject of trans* issues, I wouldn't mind seeing a binder item for sale, but whether or not that's something Daz wants to carry is entirely up to them)
Or "Morphadite" if you're in a Tennesee Williams play.
Also, Genesis 1 is also generally considered the best figure to use for transsexual and intersexed characters since it most easily allows for the blending of male and female anatomy.
in manga is funatari
i think, not sure how spelled
MistyMist, Futanari is actually Japanese version of hermaphroditism, not just a Manga and Anime term or type.
From Wikipedia: Futanari (ふたなり?, seldom: 二形, 双形, literally: dual form; 二成, 双成, literally: [to be of] two kinds), is the Japanese word for hermaphroditism, which is also used in a broader sense for androgyny. But in Manga and Anime more often then not futanari are grossly exaggerate. (though more Japanese erotic work dealing with the male phallus are (or is that just a male thing)).
Interesting note here: A friend who lives in Japan told me, to change your gender is easy in Japan. You go in and say "I am an X" and they change your gender. People who do this are called newhalf (ニューハーフ nyūhāfu ).
Also I agree ghastlycomic, Genesis 1 being gender neutral to start, does create so nice androgynous characters and would be a good starting point; for no mater if you start with G3F or G3M you are not going to be able to completely erase them to a Gender neutral starting point (but maybe that is a good thing if you are going for reality not fantasy for you can never erase the original sexual state from the human body). Conversely, there are a host of advantages of G3 bases, better base meshes for a base of morphs; better base skin textures; more and better posing options, due to the increased bone count; and the fact it is current with the technology of Daz Studio.
Now here is a curious idea, what if you could add the G3F bones to the Genesis 1 Mesh, giving you both Gender Neutral base and the best posing options. Oh just add new bones to the Genensis 1 Mesh.
I like the idea of GenX'ing morphs to Genesis 3 to make the hermaphrodite character. But how do I GenX the Hiro 3 or David 3 shape to Genesis 3 female?
Have a look at these high quality trans figures...
https://www.renderhub.com/search-for-3d-transgender
There is also an adult oriented content site out there that does have a lot of content related to this subject.. Would tell you the name of the site but not sure is allowed in this forum, but most people know what site I am talking about..
Just had the dress rehearsal for the new play i'm in, a Film Noir send up called Dead Men Don't Itch where I play femme fatale Ivy Horneigh.
It would seem I'm a Genesis 1 figure.
It's Renderotica, you can say it, this is a very old thread though and I'm guessing Miss Bad Wolf already found what she needed.
actually I have not as pretty much soon after this thread was posted my computer died. it was not not until recently I had a computer that runs 3D well.
UV Swap
For example, Genesis 3 Male base figure and Tara 2 HD textures
right now that product is showing as 404, but that could be a bug and it should reappear asap. I will check it out later. Does Genesis 8 have similar feature?
Apparently today store links give random 404 errors depending on the user, DAZ is working on that.
The G8 UV strap is here : https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-uv-swap-male-and-female-base
