What is this product? Could this be used to make 2 cars dent in a crash?
Over at Renderosity
Renderosity, cannot link, I am still waiting to see more using myself.
Sure, if the cars are made of cloth or hair.
It will look like two pillows crashed.
So wait, then how was this done a dragon and table?
The dragon behaves like cloth. You can take anything and make it behaving like cloth.
I just found it on the other site, and I see there's a free demo version to try out, I'll have to play around with it and see what I can do.
Have you ever seen the few zen masters rigging or posing chains in Daz Studio?
I admire their patience
But the revolution is here...
This is what VWD can do, as a "side bonus"!
Yes this is a screengrab from a more recent VWD youtube video
See the yellow dot on the right in the first few frames?
That's mouse cursor manipulation of selected bits of the chain - in realtime!
Imagine the possibilities!
Go check out what VWD can do for you from the horses's mouth....

Just to banish unfounded rumors and assure the interested ones that VWD supports all Genesis 1 and 2 and 3 VERY MUCH!
So much so that VWD provides scalp vertex selection presets for all Genesis versions! How nice is that?
Will Marvelous Designer do special DazStudio-centric things for you? Does Optitex care about G2M or G3F? No! lol
Screengrab from the most recent VWD video 'Mada Hair'...
Hi not asking for A direct link( sin! sin!)
But can someone give me a "Phonetic clue" how to find the actual product page or the "lite " demo version of VWD??
Product located Thanks!!
So, if one got the DAZ Studio bridge, does one need Poser to use the VWD cloth program? The specs seem to indicate that it needs Poser. Or is VWD a standalone program and they just haven't updated the requirements?
Poser not required, as stated when I asked the same question earlier in the thread. It's a stand alone application that seems to be accessed by the bridge directly, much the same way as is done with Photoshop, zBrush or Hexagon, for what it's worth.
me too, its $60 bucks for the standalone and another 15 for th bridge. I am sure its worth every penny but before i shell out $75 bucks for something I too would like to ee more people using it as well.
@ Mythmaker
The reviews are great. But if you look on the product page it says only compatible with poser 9 and up and Victoria 4, Genesis, Genesis 2 Female So I contacted VWD at rendo and asked them about compatibility. and they said it will work on almost anything. But they were working on updating it.. Now seeming I am someone that does not own the VWD sim and would like to . I also would like to know as much about it before spending $75 So you may say my comment was unfounded rumors.. But I am only going by what is is written in the product page it self & what I was told by the vender. So you as a owner of the program would know more than someone just learning about it. and going by the product description is not unfounded rumors
What a pity VWD isn't offered through DAZ.
Thanks KA1 All I had to go by was what found it cost on rendo site. , I didn't see anywhere mention it could be bought off VWD website cheaper until now, SO thank you for that information.
I still like to see some more what other people have done with VWD other than what I see on VWD youtube channel. thats how i seem to learn best is when I see what others have done with tools and other things in animation. I bought a lot of stuff with hype in the past and end up never using it.
Hi All,
I was lucky to notice VWD's program, which was for Poser initially, the moment it first appeared and was privileged to try it out right at the outset.
There was a long thread in the Carrara forum which seems to have disappeared - or maybe I'm going blind. Anyway, I contributed a little to that thread and posted links to some of my own early trials. In giving these links I need to stress that they aren't in any proper order now and all were unpolished experiments. Some of them were done in response to forum posts in DAZ or other threads.
The program itself has evolved and improved since these were done. (I take it that you will have gleaned by now that my videos aren't masterpieces!)

Just to repeat some points already made by others:
VWD's program first appeared for use with Poser. It launches within Poser by means of a Python script. Poser scene elements get passed over, settings are chosen, the simulation runs and the results get passed back into the Poser scene.
Carrara users expressed the wish for a Carrara version and Philemo stepped forward to provide a plugin for Carrara. This launches the program from within Carrara and ,from the user's point of view, does the work of the Python script in Poser. That is why there are two items to purchase if you are not using Poser.
I assume that the DAZ version works along the same lines. So it also needs two purchases: VWD's program and Philemo's plugin. Philemo may be known on the other site as Philemot.
VWD is a wonderful program.
Here is a VERY POOR attempt of mine at hand animating. I used VWD for the hair but I think I managed to also have a second, still copy of the hair fitted!

Thank you Marcus for your demos and taking the time for explanations . I have poser so will this work right in poser itself or do i need a plugin for it to work as well?
From what you described about a bridge for Carrara I'm thinking the Daz bridge maybe something similar. it would be truly great asset . I wonder does the simulation works in the daz studio program? or is it something you have to import from VWD into daz ? thank you again.
Thanks for taking a look, Ivy. I have enjoyed your own work and have appreciated your explanations of what you do, even though I haven't participated in the conversations. Usually I visit the forums very late and, as now, need to apologise that I will be gone soon. 2:50 am here!
I'm not sure which is the oldest version of Poser that is suitable. I've used Poser 10 and Poser Pro 2014 successfully. I think it depends on Python scripting being available but I'm pretty much a Poser novice and don't know if there are different flavours of Python (so to speak!)
If you have Poser, you need to buy VWD only.
If you have VWD you can buy an additional plugin to use it with Carrara. You can also buy a different additional plugin to use it with DAZ Studio.
The VWD program is launched by the plugins in Carrara or DAZ or from within Poser where it is invoked by a Python script. It exists as a tall window to the side of the screen and has a number of panels which can be expanded to expose the buttons and drop-down lists etc, where settings are chosen. One of the panels can be expanded to full screen to show the simulation taking place as you will have seen in various videos. There is a 'Send To' button to press after the simulation is completed which brings the animation or static drape back into the program which launched it (Poser, Carrara, DAZ Studio).
The basic workflow is to clothe the character in the parent program and also to animate it there. Even for static poses it is best to fit the clothes and hair, start in the T Pose and move to the static pose over a number of frames. Then call up the VWD program. The VWD program lists the scene elements and invites you to choose which elements will be collided against and which object will be cloth or hair for the simulation to act upon. (I haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure you could have a table and a tablecloth rather than a figure and a garment (or a dragon and a chair!)
Apart from the probability of needing to carry out a number of trial and error simulations, you may need to work through a sequence of simulations before everything is done. This would be the case where a long upper garment is draped over a lower garment. Simulate the lower garment first and then simulate the upper this time with the lower garment flagged as a collision object. Then do a third simulation with long hair colliding against the upper garment! You can't have everything simulate over a single pass.
It really is a great program but successful results may take some effort because such a program is extremely complex under the hood and no two meshes are identical.
I must add that I haven't yet seen or used the DAZ plugin - only the one for Carrara.
That VWD program looks promising...
Regarding "Animation". Some of you may mentioned already, but for those who don't: Don Albert's Walking, Trotting, Cantering, Galloping, and Jumping Actions Bundle is currently in the shop at a 70% discount. From the pose files inside you can more or less easily build your own motion cycles for the DAZ Horse 2 (although I still need to find out the appropriate z-translation value to make it look and work perfectly).
Thank you very much Marcus for taking he time to explain the details . I have poser 9,thru 2014 and I am pretty sure the phyon scripts works the same for those programs. I'm like you I have pretty much shifted to Daz Studio, mostly for the high end content. & ease of use timeline. So VWD is something i definetly want to get after i saved some pennies
Thank you again for all the information
Are there any links to some "practical" examples of this Dynamics system being used in a finished rendered animation?
or with a character being tossed violently in a "ragdoll" simulation
I must admit to being frankly underewhelmed with the hair Examples I have seen thus far.
I personally dont think Clothifying strips of polygon hair meshes that are textured with mostly 1990's Era painted transmaps , are a really good "Dynamic Hair"solution.
I understand the simulation speed is a step forward over posers aged system that they license from "Size8" software.
But I am not quite amazed by what I have seen
so far
and would need to know if these sims can be baked to keyframes for export FROM Daz Studio as I dont render finals in DS nor Poser.
