Pose Sets

Do you use pose/expression sets, or not?
If so what are some of the most useful pose sets you've found? What would you like to see implemented in pose sets?
For me, I think most poses sets should include upper and lower pose options. Few things are more frustrating than a set that has the perfect hand position, but the lower half of the body is completely wrong for what you need or vice versa. While it's asking a lot, it would be nice if hand held props also included pose sets as well. I also think the market is probably over saturated with modeling/ cheesecake poses.

This actually gives better results for building poses from tops and bottoms than included saves of tops and bottoms. http://www.daz3d.com/pose-builder-for-genesis-3.
Damn, I forgot that I owned that. I really need a way of cataloging all the stuff in my library.
I do, and as a general rule, I like pose sets that have the same poses for males and females -- that tends to weed out the modeling/cheesecake poses. My favorites are those by Feral Fay -- they're well-balanced, anatomically accurate, and avoid those "staged-looking" modeling poses. http://www.daz3d.com/tender-moments-for-genesis-3 has the same poses for male and female figures, so not only does that allow for same-sex couples, it also weeds out a lot of the overly-stereotyped romance poses.
Another +1 for Pose builder, and I want to add Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 Pose Converter. http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-2-to-genesis-3-pose-converter
If you don't have either one, get the bundle. http://www.daz3d.com/pose-builder-genesis-3-bundle
I used both products extensively last week while doing a round of promos, and they saved my sanity.
Another +1 shout out to Feral Fey's poses. I also seem to use a lot by Val3dart, -dragonfly3d-, DM, and EmmaAndJordi.
I prefer gender neutral non sexified pose sets. They are the most useful for both genders, children, monsters etc. I don't buy female model pose sets because they tend to have too much hip and chest thrust and sway back.
I could use pose sets for couples of interchangeable gender.
I can use more male expression sets preferably regular or less exagerated facial expressions. No orgasm face sets.
One thing I can really use would be pose sets which include resets for body parts. For some reason half the time the facial reset isn't working for gen 7. I co
When I first started, I used lots of pose/expression sets. Now, not quite so much, but if I do, it's the expression packs I gravitate to because I'm still not great at doing those from scratch. As for packs that split out body parts, yeah, those are my favorites, but I learned how to take apart a pose and save just the parts of the pose I need or want to save my sanity. And, while I got Pose Builder when it came out, I rarely use it, because it's just easier for me to load up a pose that has something I want and save out just the part of the pose I want. Posing is just one of those things I found out I really like and I am good at doing in DS.
So, these days, I'm more selective of the pose packs I get if I get one. They have to be a group of poses I never thought of trying to do. Bonus points if they also have a prop with which the poses interact. Even more bonus points if the poses can be used on either figure, but if not, I can still use the pose and just tweak where needed. Triple bonus points, if the poses also have companion expression poses. Mega bonus points for pose packs for animals because there just aren't enough of them which is one reason I started making my own poses.
Unfortunately, I can't buy the one pose pack that I'd like to get at the moment because I'm working on poses for the same animal that he recently released a pose pack and I didn't want to accidentally steal from his poses so I'm trying really hard not to even look at them until I finish all of my wolf poses. But after that, I'm definitely getting them because Design Anvil also included wicked glowing eyes with his wolf poses that look great. And, yeah, even after doing about 40 of my own poses for the wolf, I still plan to get Design Anvil's pose pack when I'm done.
Other vendors who do poses that I admire, Ironman13 (I learned a lot about posing picking those apart), FeralFey (usually has interesting poses with props), and Zeddicuss (unusual poses with props, too) are just a few that I like, but there are other really good pose artists out there and it would be really hard to list all of the pose artists I really like. I've just discovered Isandgirl since she came over with the RDNA crowd and she has some really good pose packs for the toon figures I'm still trying to figure out how to work with best. But, there are lots of other great vendors with poses. I tend to look more critically at the poses than the who the vendor is these days.
I'll use pose sets to some extent, but because I almost never use the figure morph at "full strength" I'm frequently adjusting them. I don't have the pose builder, I'll usually use the Right Click method instead.
Like Serene Night, I prefer gender neutral or at least not "Model" poses.
I almost never use expression poses, though if they're made into morph dials, those I may use, since I like to start with an expression dial at around 30-50%, and then adjust the individual facial parts to complete the expression I'm looking for.
Yeah, I do this with expressions, too. Having that starter expression as a dial really helps in the whole posing process. Expressions as morphs dials are a must, but if they don't come that way, turning expressions into a morph dial is a great skill to have for those of us that don't do expressions well!
I like both kinds of sets. I tend to get bogged down with too many dials and some of the dials really don't accurately depict the expression. Having a visual preset saves me time- Unless I can't undo them.
Lately with facial expressions for genesis 3- I've been having trouble removing the expression when it is applied.
Oh, no, that isn't good. I haven't come across that problem yet.
Great product, although I don't use it too often.
I have purchased quite a few. I'll either use one pretty much as is, or I'll have a pose in mind and I'll go through my library looking for something in the ballpark to get me going faster than starting from a totally zeroed pose. Sometimes the ballpark is a few miles away, but it seems like it saves me time.
Thanks for the nods, fixmypcmike, Destiny's Garden, and Knittingmommy. I appreciate it.
Making poses is my passion, I guess you could say. And I try to make useful poses, so it pleases me that people find them so.
Personally, I go back and forth on whether or not to include partial poses (separate tops and bottoms). On the one hand, I understand the appeal, but on the other hand, I know that mixing tops and bottoms doesn't always create balanced poses - and making balanced and realistic poses is important to me. But those of you who like them bring up a valid point about finding a hand pose or arm pose that you want to use, but it's attached to legs that aren't in a position you want. I've been toying with some way to figure out how to give you all partial poses like this, without compromising the balanced look of a pose. I'll put some more thought into it.
I do have plans on releasing a hand pose set (including some props) in the near future. I'll post info and sneak peeks on my facebook page, for those who are interested. I'm always looking for suggestions for poses people would like to see, too. So feel free to drop me a line there.
Oh! Serene Night, if you own any of my pose sets that include expressions for Genesis 3, I always include a reset pose for the expressions. Just use one of those and you should be good to go. :) (Caveat - my Big Drama Expression sets do not include the reset pose preset, as these are morph dial expressions only.)
Thanks again for those of you have purchased my pose sets over the years. Your patronage is deeply appreciated. Happy posing and thank you!!
