Great -still working in 2016 blender 2.77a, its nice to be able to rigify and then able to pose more easily (with feet that stay put when needed!)
What I cant figure out is how to export an animation that uses rigify to BVH for use in Daz. -or transfer the animation in blender from the riggified Genesis back to separate collada imported genesis. I tried the makewalk addon for retargeting but its as clear as mud to me. If anyone knows, you better tell me .......or else! ;-)
*scratches head* well... :D
I've never succeeded with makewalk myself... i'm not really much of an animator. when i do animate, it's for use in a game engine. I don't even know if makewalk is still the best option for retargetting in blender.
Perhaps someone else could provide some help, sorry :) or maybe you should try the makehuman forums? they should know more about makewalk there.
does it work with Genesis 3?
Yes it works with g1,g2 and g3 male and female. I was confused (last year when I tried it) with the rigify rig as it leaves the old rig in there - but you can get rid of it if animating/posing in blender.
Khalibloo - thanks anyway .. just be great to be able to send poses back to DS. Well, I suppose exporting full posed obj and importing into Daz Studio will do.
@digidotz, Sorry I couldnt be more helpful. I have absolutely no experience sending animations to DAZ Studio. I always think in terms of getting the assets from DAZ to blender, never the other way around. But there's something i do a lot that comes close.
You see, most of my game characters have simplified rigs for use in the game engine but while animating, i prefer to use a rigify rig. the way i do this is by using bone constraints. each bone in the game rig would be assigned a constraint to follow the corresponding bone in the rigify rig. for example, left forearm in the game rig will be made to follow the left forearm in the rigify rig.
So if you really need to transfer the animations back to the original collada rig, you could do something similar. set up the bone constraints and have each bone follow its rigify counterpart. it's a tedious process though.
@nicstt, yeah. all genesis figures are supported except g3 males. they should be added soon hopefully... if i can just find the time :)
For some reason, whenever i try to post a comment here, I'm greeted with an error message saying my comment couldn't be posted. I had to try a lot of times using different browsers on different devices just to get those last 2 posts posted! This one will probably be the same.
So just in case you don't get a response from me here in the future, post your comment on the blender artists thread instead https://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?321572-Khalibloo-Panel
There is no reason this should happen as long as you are logged in to the site. Return to the front page and make sure that you are logged in by clicking on the blue (or white) man icon in the top right corner.
If I wasn't logged in, I wouldn't even see the comment box. I'd see "sign in or register" instead of the comment box.
When I click the Post Comment button, nothing happens for a while. Then after a minute or so, this little transparent black box pops up at the bottom left of the page (close to the post comment button) saying "There was an error perfoming your request. Please try again.". Happens on firefox and edge. Haven't tried with chrome or opera. Sometimes I get lucky on edge and the post goes through. by the way, the same error pops up when i click the save draft button.
If I were you I would check your settings and add ons, because that is not normal behaviour. You must have something which is arguing with the software or the browser. Maybe a windows 10 setting somewhere is stopping you doing things. I don't recall seeing any other member remark on problems like this.
Edge doesnt support addons. As for firefox, well, i've been using the same addons for a long time now. the last addon i installed was at least 6 months ago. I've been browsing the web pretty fine and i don't have problems with any other web site.
I have somewhat more success with edge on one of my devices, but it also takes a few tries to get my comment posted.
In any case, it seems to me the issue isn't with my device. After all, the website does acknowledge that i clicked the button and hence produces an error message. It could very well be a server side error. Your logs should show that. Or perhaps it could be a region issue? I'm in Nigeria.
Just tried routing my traffic through a web proxy in the US. Worked first time on firefox!
I'll try my best to provide support for the addon here, but if the problem persists, I may not be able to.
We have sent a query to the Web guys for you, to see if they have any ideas.
Thanks @chohole! :)
