DSON or?

Hi,

I'm interested in getting my skin over to Poser for my current project.  I know the settings won't go over perfectly, I'm well aware of that but wanted to know if there was a way to get at least the basics over using DSON or some other method?  I'm using the current version of DAZ Studio and have Poser 11 Pro.

Since it's got Superfly (which is a pretty nice rendering engine) and I'm mostly using iRay these days wanted to know if exporting with the iRay set up will be a good thing or a bad thing!  lol

Thanks for the help!

Rich

Your Iray shaders wont translate to the new cycles based
shader in p11 so you will have to redo all your textures
as far as getting the meshes into P11  you might want to aks over at rosity since DSON may not be supported by P11.

DSON works for me in PPro11. As to the basic materials, that requires creating Poser Companion Files (which I have not done myself... so can't say how difficult that is...)

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dson_importer/poser/userguide/dson_content_conversion/tutorials/creating_dson_companion_files/start

Maybe adding the textures manually is quicker.... shader settings needs to be done manually anyway...

Thank you.  Found that out the hard way.  Exported as a CR2 which of course takes the texture paths with them.  The only texture for each node that came over was the diffuse.  So yea, I've started the long ardulous process of building it all from scratch.  I'm about 1/2 way and then have to tweak here and there.  Just wish there was a list of the Poser nodes compared to the DAZ Studio surfaces to compare... things like the Specular and Glossy have me scratching my head a bit and the strengths of the bumps maps too!  *sigh*

Do remeber that DS uses centimeter as the default unit, were as in Poser that defaullts to inch or feet IIRC. (have set it to centimeter on my system). Using the DS parameter values for bump/displacement in poser may give unexpected results cheeky...Also the way min/max bump/displacement is handled may differ in DS and Poser...

Thank you.  I didn't realize that measure types were different per program.  Grrrrrrrrrrr ....

Also, from what I recall, values between DS and Poser may work in reverse.  100% spec in DS is 0% in Poser.  4x tiling in DS is 0.25 in Poser.

YIKES!  I really really wish there was a comparison chart about all this stuff out there somewhere.  It would be helpful considering I'm developing for both platforms.  frown

    Thanks Matty
