Lousy way to start the week, buying new content

I bought some new content and installed it... Went into the DIM 3rd column, instead of updating metadata I clicked on something that uninstalled every content item in the 3rd column.  It took almost and hour to complete and now I have to go back to the first column and individually selected the content to re-install.  The problem is there are hundreds of items I don't want to install, so it may take a couple hours to do this.  I can't just click on the top block.  I have to scroll through and select the items I want installed from all those items. I can only imagine how long it will take to reinstall 1,500 content items I want installed.  Reinstallation is further complicated because I don't remember what all those items are without checking back to the product pages, which make the reinstall alot more difficult.

Daz needs to require some type additional click-on to confirm actions that will make large changes in file status.  At first I didn't know what was happening, but I could not exit the DIM while running.  I had to let the DIM thing run it's course.

  • If by columns you mean the tabs - Ready to Download, Ready to Install, and Installed then the Clear Queue button at the bottom will halt the processing of further items. If your uninstalled items have now gone back to Ready to Download then it suggests you have Delete package Once Installed checked in the Ready to Install tab - unchecking that, space permitting, will at least avoid having to wait for items to download again in a similar situation in future..

The items have gone back to ready to download.  I did not have "delete package once installed" checked.

Yes the content items are all back in ready to download.  I still have to go through that list and individually select items to reinstall.

The purpose of a confirmation click-on would at least give users a chance to double check what they selected before the DIM executes.

Yes, I should have said Tabs.

I'll have to tackle this rework in the wee hours of the morning with a pot of coffee.

Richard, thanks for the quick response... maybe you will think about suggesting something to DIM developer to prevent this happening

  • You can make a feature request by submitting a support ticket http://www.daz3d.com/help/help-contact-us - set the department as Technical Support, I usually start the Subject line with the application name and then Feature request (so "Install Manager Feature Request - add verification step for mass actions" perhaps), then explain the idea in more detail in the body.

    I will do that.

I plan to reinstall first, so I can speak of the time this has taken me to rebuild the content libraries.
