Am I just not looking in the right place for the daily new stuff? I'm a bit of a newbie - I've only been doing 3D art for about 4 months or so - but from what I've seen there is always something new every day. Is there really nothing new today or am I just not looking in the right spot? If there isn't anything new, is that something that happens fairly regularly or is this pretty uncommon?

Not every day, quite often a weekend or a Monday won't have anything new and will feature one of these big selection sales instead.
I've noticed that there's usually (?) one day a week when there's no new stuff. It may not be every week, I haven't been keeping track, but it felt that way to me.
@Ix @Ati Thanks guys! I must have just gotten lucky to hit a new product streak for a while - I've been really looking forward and excited to see new items every day. They spoiled me. ;) Ah well - we have a neat G1 and Toon sale to check out and tempt us to spend. lol I'll be looking forward to the new items tomorrow (not that I can usually afford to buy new items, but it's always fun to check them out - it's become my nightly routine lol). :)
This gives you time to look through the two 80% off sales. ;) (I have 2 bigger wishlisted packs in there, so I will probably fall for it... :))
Actually, it gives you time to look at and then use what you bought. :)
This! I'm guilty of impulse buying during a good sale and then not going back to render with the product(s) I picked up. Sales that aren't interesting to me give me time to through my ever-growing backlog and remind me why I bought something in the first place!
You'll find on holidays, days after big weekends, and sometimes before a new figure is released there are some days when there is no new content. Inevitably a sale will occur on those days.

These four (purchase dates above) and two from Renerosity have managed to remain unused; I've been spending time these last months finding them all, so to find six more even now is kinda surprising.
Greetings,
It's also worth remembering that September and October are often big sale months, so they probably need to keep some products back to ensure the flow of new products during that period of time.
