P3D Maria for Teen Josie 7

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to P3Design for this:

Can we make this a thing from now on? I'd LOVE to start seeing renders of the characters without it's "base" character in the future. Often times I don't have the base character and really want to see what she'd look like as a stand alone character. This type of render is HUGELY helpful to me in deciding if I want to purchase a character. So, PAs, can we make this a thing from now on? I love it and I think you'd find it would help your sales increase - as often times people who don't have the base character will just pass it up - but seeing what the character looks like without the base can really change their minds about passing it up. :)

I agree. I took a chance and purchased From Russia for Rune 7 without owning Rune on a chance, and the results on the base G3F figure were great! But it would be great if artists would provide the images up front so it wouldn't be such a gamble!

I know, I know, there's always a thirty-day return period, but you don't want to use it if you don't have to!

Yup, totally. And not to mention that if they feel you're abusing the return policy they can revoke it. So I definitely don't want to use it unless absolutely necessary. Taking a gamble on whether or not a character will look good without a base morph isn't something I want to do - given limited funds and not wanting to abuse the return policy. However if PAs where to provide a shot of what the character looks like without that morph, I think that would be a big help to many people in deciding if they want to get the character reguardless of if they own the base morph figure. I hope more PAs start doing this, I'm sure it would help them make more sales on their characters.

Totally agree; I've returned a few things recently, and would rather have sufficient info not to purchase in the first place.

There's a thread somewhere (probably titled Russian for Rune, ) where the PA posted several renders of Anastaysia without the Rune 7 base.  Resulted in an instant sale from me.   I'm figuring the forums are the best places to find these, and you can always ask for someone to post a render without the base figure for an example.

I peronally like all of P3D's characters. I have quite a few of them and most all of the textures are veryy good.

Yes, her characters are great! Like over half her products are in my wish list. I'm really sad because right now you can get her characters for SUPER cheap due to some stacking discounts: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1454681/#Comment_1454681 But sadly I'm totally broke and can't get any. It makes me very sad because I've been wanting to get more of her characters for quite a while now and these prices (many of her characters can be scored for $3 right now!) are insanely good!

You are killing me woman!!! I just saw your post and decided to check it out. After 30 minutes of shopping, $170 of product for $39, I think I am starting to understand this stacking thingy, LOL.

Caro, Adele, Emi including a few items from Sedor, Mada, and Sarsa which were also deeply discounted with the stacking.

I posted some images also. From Russia for Rune 7, on base G3F. If I could figure out how to use them on G3M, Elena would make a great Illya Kuryakin!

Do you have http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-cross-figure-resource-kit? You could try applying Elena to G3F and use Cross-Figure to morph her shape into a G3M... Just a thought...

I just looked at it, and am a bit confused. Does it morph G3F to G3M, or their clothing? Maybe I need sleep. Or coffee. Or coffee then sleep...

It morphs the female into the male, and vice-versa.

I think the main idea behind the product is to morph one into the other for the purpose of fitting clothing. However, I was just testing it, and you can apply the Elena morph and use Cross-Figure to change her to a him. The figure will still be G3F, however, and things like poses will have to be tweaked, if you can apply them. (Pose Builder for Genesis 3, for example, should allow you to apply G3M poses to G3F.) Male clothing will have to be auto-fit, too. Not sure about facial/body hair...

(And to show my age... I didn't think the resulting character looked anything like a yound David McCallum. Then it hit me, there was a movie version recently. A quick look over at IMDB, and I see it does look quite a bit like Armie Hammer!)

I used to have a render of my Alex for Kimo 7 without Kimo-totally different look.  It amused me to now end and thought about putting it in the promos as "rat boy" because that's what he looked like!

    Kinda like this guy:

A different approach might work as well, given that you don't seem to have Cross-Figure. (Or any of the things I'm about to recommend, probably, but it's a different option, in any event.) Cross-Figure does have a male shape inside, but it's not meant to be a durable sort of thing. It's only used to pass the male morph to the female clothes and vice versa. And dealing with clothing in that situation, if it's a character meant to be used more than once, would be absolutely maddening. (Poses, depending on what they are, not so bad, actually, when you're using male poses on female characters.)

You'd want to use Cross-Figure for clothing generally, of course, but it works best in situations where Autofit or Transfer Utility would be a bad idea, such as armor. It preserves things like rigid parts of clothing, such as belt buckles or parts of armor that absolutely should not deform, whereas Autofit and Transfer Utility would lose all rigidity information.

To use the From Russia with Rune's Elena texture only with G3M, if that's what you're interested in, you might consider Slosh's Genesis 3 UV Swap: http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-uv-swap-male-and-female-base.

That will let you use G3F textures on G3M, and vice versa.

If you want to pull Elena's head shape to G3M, then you could use GenX2 to transfer from G3F to G3M. Otherwise, if it's just the texture you want, you can use sliders to build whatever sort of character you want, as long as you have enough morphs for it.

That approach will let you use the head shape and texture without doing the Autofit tango every time you want to dress the character.

That sounds like a much better solution...

And I have both products! Just getting into GenX now, I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do. I'm rendering a G3F character using the Girl 4 shape now, so I'm surprised I didn't think of GenX. Great little addon for DS, one of my best DAZ investments.
