I am in need of a supersonic shockwave prop, specifically for over the water use.  Something a little bit like this.

Moved to the Commons as it is a request for, not an offer off, a freebie.

Thanks Chohole.  I'm still sorta not used to these forums yet.  Charlie, you wouldn't happen to know of anything for a boat's roostertail, would ya?  They look the same and should function the same.

WE do have one thread for requests for specific freebies.    It is usually hovering around the top of the forum page over there, as it is quite a popular thread.   I did wonder whether you would have preferred your request merged into the thread, but decided that you would probably lose it if I did that.   http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/30004/general-freebie-requests-part-2/p1

Well, yes, I am a little familiar with rooster tails of racing boats. What I had in mind was that you might be able to scale and shape a plume from the products  I referenced above. And in your case possibly use a couple of plumes side-by-side

That would work, yes, however I am flat broke atm.

While not the desired option, I wonder if you could create a set of stacked planes and use 2D effects painted on them to create something similar?  If you look closely at the original image the spray is sort of divided into rows of columns, so you might be able to do that although it would require some effort to blend the bottom into the water, perhaps via additional fine spray instead of a smooth transition from solid water to kicked-up spray

Although I don't see a readily obvious way to use these to duplicate the effect above exactly, you might be able to make some combination of Spacebones' water props to make something else that works for you instead: http://www.sharecg.com/v/25522/view/5/3D-Model/Liquid

I did actually have the idea of using a series of stacked planes to duplicate the overall effect, I just don't really know how to put it all together.

There are some free water props on shareCG.   Made as OBJ format,  I use them often in Bryce.   Search for a user called Space bones.

Hmm hang on a sec,  I may have his share CG pages set up as a bookmark. let me check.

Yup found it    you will have to back a fair way in his pages, but they are there.  http://www.sharecg.com/pf/full_uploads.php?pf_user_name=spacebones

...I've used his wake props, they take a little work in Daz, but do look good.

BTW, Just viewed various images and and videos of jet fighters actually performing high speed low passes over water and they really do not kick up a rooster tail as the picture in the OP illustrates.  Even at Mach .98 and above they create the wake on the water's surface is pretty much flat with maybe a little spray rather than tall plumes of water, unless the pilot abruptly pulls up (which then is then an effect of the engine exhaust actually hitting the water).  Even so it is not as "spectacular" as in the picture above.

However, what I would like is to be able to create is the shockwave cone that forms about the aircraft's midpoint when it reaches maximum dynamic pressure (pushes through the sound barrier).

That itself is fairly easy.  Just create a series of consecutively smaller cones stacked on top of each other with a rotated mist ball texture to give it the 'cloudy' look.

Google "NERD3D Splash Tool" and see if that is what you are looking for.  I have purchased it but not fooled around with it yet so not posative it would work for such big splashes but from the tutorial video it seems like it would and is very versitile.  It does work in both DAZ Studio and Poser though so that is a bonus.
