Mind me asking what the new approach is? I see so many characters in the various stores I sometimes miss any new innovations unless they are front and center in the promos. I also appreciate the no brows option you provide
So glad I started asking for them to be absent.
I offer... no brow, black, light, red, and brown brows... includes the data files for the no brow, and LIE overlays for the other colors.
Thanks, that is good to know. I never use LIE, but do appreciate the extra effort
:) good to here, love your morphs!
Brows are a big issue for me. I don't like thin plucked or elfin Spock type brows which seem popular for menfolk. I just like normal brows that are just average and straight across not tilted weirdly or arched like the joker.
Gens on women I don't care about. Most look fake to me anyway . Gens for men are nice but not a deal breaker
Gens for men, I prefer to use http://www.daz3d.com/cryptozoic-worm
Lol that was good. I actually haven't rendered the worm yet for some reason. The idea of it near genitals is... Disturbing.
Hah!
Somebody is using that as their avatar, I forget their name, I thought it was some sort of green eagle talon or something...
Sometimes I feel like the product is 'incomplete' if it doesn't include gen textures, even if I'm not using them. Mostly it just bugs me that a huge percentage of female textures have that stripe. It doesn't really affect me personally but feels like bad design for those that do and are stuck with that one design.
Brows are becoming a bigger deal for me too. I feel like all the ones I have are either super thick or super trimmed, rather than a range. Brown works for lots of figures too, but the red ones basically mean you can't use any other hair colours anymore and that's kind of a nuiscance.
Plucked and shaved gens aren't common where I live so seeing those on women is a bit odd. I realize this is a popular look for a lot of artists but I'm not a fan. I like natural looking figures which includes body hair on gens and the rest of the bod for some races. Variety is nice too.
The arch of the brow is important to me. For men if the brow is too stylized the character can look kind of diabolical. I like straight across brows so if I want the character to have a diabolical look I can make him that way with expressions. I don't care for uber thick brows, but thicker than some Ive been seeing lately would be nice.don't care for female resource skins on most guy characters.
I also like my characters to match. so if a character looks too different stylistically I pass. I have noticed head size us an issue for my guy characters. Some just have bigger faces than others and it looks weird to have the different styles in the scene Michael 7 for example has a smaller face. Some pa's make characters with big faces. They don't match too well,in a scene.
True but I assume that if people wanted to add their own fibermesh or whatever then plucked/shaved works much better than having one existing design there, much the same as people wanting no brow versions. Though to be honest it's not something I've looked into or experimented with to know if that's what people would do with those areas. I'm just not a big fan of drawn on hair in general.
I think for distance work and to add depth to fiber mesh drawn on is fine. I also like it underneath fiber mesh for depth and variety since fiber mesh can be uniform in size.
I wasn't irritated - just answering your question. I guess you're not psychic after all - that's too bad, bet it would come in handy for some lottery numbers. :P Thanks for the hopes for a good week though, so far it's been fantastic! :)
I can definitely attest to this! You work really hard to make your characters great as I've recently found out. Also your last couple of releases look AMAZING! I definitely love the recent characters you've created. Vega Davin and Siara are so beautiful and I can't wait to have them once I get some more money coming in! :D
I'm sure that he/she knows that the character comes with legs. lol We just want to see them. 5 face close ups and a couple of half body shots - all shot from the front - doesn't give us a full picture of the character. The character looks stunning (of what we can see) and you obviously put a lot of work into her - we'd just like to see more of the character before deciding if we want to spend our hard earned money on it. I'm sure you understand. :)
It's easy to add the png of the eyebrow to the texture in Gimp and Photoshop and save the texture as a custom version; it's what I did.
Haha
Makes my eyes water /nod
Plucked! Damn! Damn!
Then again, shaved! Not letting anything sharp down there. /shudder.

Few - if any - can afford everything they want; and certainly not at the release price; so anything that helps us decide is a good thing; of course, once everyone/most are doing a 'thing', we'll have to find something else. :)
And I'm sure a PA would rather sell it at release than sometime later when the discount is higher. I know I would. :)
Mens skins should have mens eyebrows. Jepe did good eyebrows.
But, whilst speaking of hair in the nether regions
, for Daz gallery images, it would be nice if someone could indicate where male abdominal hair ends and the pubic hair starts.
Yeah, I admit, I do wonder about that Butch. Some people are all hairy all over. Do you have to airbrush the hair out just above the pelvis. Seems odd to me. I've seen the happy trail hair morph used, and that clearly doesn't stop at the pelvis. So is it more of a question of keeping the groin area covered or do you have to just avoid any hair near that area?
This is an excellent example of how not to do it in my book. Character looks interesting, but the skin is hidden too much, and the sales 'blurb'... well it's very economical.

I must admit the eyes and lips put me off, but I could get past those if the above wasn't also a factor.

I'm curious; do PA's get advice on the blurb, what and how much to write?
Some of the blurbs are really unique, and some go into a lot of detail (Emma and Jordi products come to mind) others seem to use a copypaste blurb every time to the point where I have some of them memorised. They don't seem to get spellchecked or otherwise QAd either because there are often mistakes (not by everyone obviously but I do see them quite often.)
I do like that the backgrounds on that product are more visually striking than usual and suit the type of character well.
I feel like trying to note critical things about products here is just going to lead to more PAs thinking it's hate on them, but oh well.
Some PAs are not native English speakers, so they may not always know the right words in that language to express themselves clearly. It would be nice if there was someone that could help translate it for the web crew to put on the store to improve sales.

I didn't notice that product before but I like it, think it's presented well, and I also like the hair that is used and referenced where to buy. I agree the character skin texture looks as if it leans more toward a toon style than a realistic style but I think the ad copy hints strongly at that. The eye brows and texture over all can have more realistic eyesbrows and blemishes added later I suppose if you want; I find that easier for me then trying to edit a very high resolution personalized texture set.
Short answer, not really. But Daz is very helpful when we ask for advice :D I'd like to point out that's TwiztedMetal's first release here at Daz (Welcome!!!). The submission process is very different here than at those other brokerages, and there are a few things that take a little getting used to. The character is an Aiko so I would guess definitely leaning towards the toon style on purpose. TwiztedMetal does a lot of fun and funky makeups/styles for their characters, and they don't stick to toon styles. Most of the ones I've seen by them at another store would fall under realistic with glam options. Lots of fun stuff.
The big thing with the blurbs is it's pretty much *the* last thing we do on a project. We've done the modeling/morphing, textures, JCMs, MCMs, presets a plenty, thumbnails, promos, tips, extras for readmes, videos sometimes... everything until we submit the product, and then we have to write a blurb. Yes, it's an incredibly important thing, buuuut by the time we get to that we're so sick of it we can't think of anything to say :D With the first character I did by myself here, I sat there staring at it for a week and a half trying to think of something to say. Especially when the contents of the product are listed out so neatly below (as a customer, I tend to skip the blurb, go to the list, then look back at the blurb if I need clarification about something). There is also definitely a lot of PAs that are not native English speakers, and that's a factor as well.
My personal favorite style is Ansiko's on http://www.daz3d.com/antarctica-expedition-the-encampment-sled-and-poses and http://www.daz3d.com/antarctica-expedition-the-ship . They went into a nice explanation of the basis of the product in the promos (and it probably didn't hurt that the story of Shackleton's expedition is one of my favorites ever). But, not everyone bases their stuff on cool stories like that. So we're stuck with... "She's got freckles!! Lots of 'em! And makeup... did I mention makeup?" Ok, over simplification, but that's what it feels like.
Some of us like "She's got freckles!" though. I read that way faster than noting every detail in a file list or even (I know this makes no sense) from looking at images. I don't want to read a novel or anything, but simple descriptions like "hey this is a freckle based on Victoria but shes super pale! She has special, I don't know, triangle nail morphs!" is super helpful for me at least.
I should add that I totally understand that many creators aren't native English speaking - but what I really find shocking with errors is that Daz isn't double checking any of it. I got the impression they wanted to put on a more professional image than other stores (maybe I was wrong?) and that kind of thing matters.
I seldom use a character without modifications. First the character needs to grab my attention with the main promo image, I don't buy many characters, so that first impression is very important. Next is does the basic shape, and the textures offer something I can easily build off of (enhance with my own style). Finally, does it offer something unique I don't already have. I'm really not into tatoos, but sometimes the right ones will be that extra something, or maybe face paint for a fantasy warrior, or ?????.
I also prefer textures that aren't airbrush perfect, and more realistic ....... most of the time. The Girl sometimes needs something more "perfect".
Textures for the gens can be nice, but seldom do I use them, so it might help me to put it in the cart, but seldom (if ever) will not having them make me not buy a characcter I like. There is always The Gimp to fix this minor issue if needed.
That'll make descriptions easier then for me at least :D
They do double check, but like with everything, stuff gets missed. If I had a dollar for every error I find when reading novels, I'd be... well, I might be able to support my 3D habit ;) When it's pointed out, they're usually quick to fix/update.
Honestly, we all struggle with descriptions. It really hard to be your own copy writer. I do great work with other people's stuff and all I can say for my own products is...
So I copy and paste my generic description of what is included, updating it for each particular product.
Yes. I just had to request a change this week. It happens and we try to fix it as soon as we discover it.
