Update 09/18: Previews for FM Gym: Sit-Up Benches & Poses added

Hey guys, just a quick heads-up ... this little addon is about to release in a few days :)
It`s a perfect fit for the gym, but of course it works as stand-alone set as well.

Hey Guys!
Here`s a couple of previews for FM Gym, a set I`ve been working on for quite a while.
The basic infos: It`s for Daz Studio 3Delight and Iray, all Workout Stations are functional and can be animated/posed with a single slider, there are full scene preloads as well as solo preloads for each Station and most objects. Everything comes in three base color versions (white, red, black), two sequential Pose sets for Genesis 3 Male/Female are to release next to the main set.

At the end of the post you`ll find some links to Youtube vids (I`d recommend to watch the Overview if you want to see more of the Workout Stations).
I also added a Keyframe Animation Tutorial since it seemed like a good addition to the Pose sets.

I hope you`ll like it!

Looks really nice! I am getting tired just looking at the promos, LOL.

    Lol thanks.
    Corrected image scaling on OP.

Looks good.  Reminds me a bit of the gym (NYSC) I used to go to in NYC.

Pleased to hear it, kinda means I didn`t totally fail on realism ;)

Reminds me a bit of one in Zurich but without the NYC style skyline. I'll be buying.

I am glad you guys feel reminded of real counterparts. I for one haven`t ever seen a gym from the inside, so I relied on google,yt, etc..
To me it looks a bit like an eliteish gym, with a costly membership ;)

You really haven't really been in a paid membership gym then, even the YMCA has elite prices, I think because there aren't enough people that keep their membership a long time.

I would have thought you spent an incredible amount of time at the gym with all the details in the equipment and poses.  Like the pins in the first promo image for an adjustable seat (whether they actually adjust or not).  Love the attention to details.

The dumbbell handle between plates seem a little too long though.  But I can scale it down along the axis in Daz Studio so no big deal.

If it hasn't been summited to Daz yet, I would suggest having numbers on the weight stack of the machines.  And for a rack of nonadjustable dumbbells, having each dumbbell labeled with its total weight.

And a big THANK YOU for including 3Delight.

Should be easy for the OP to check the sizes and scale against the Olympic requirements for such equipment. The videos were super.

I was gonna say "do we really need another gym in Daz world" but looking at the promos, I guess the answer is "yes, we did...but now we don't!"

Hehe nope, I like the fitness theme for 3D, but not so much in real life, so never been to a gym. ;)
I watched tons of YT vids though, mostly to get a grasp on how things work mechanically.

Yes, the seat is adjustable by pose slider, I don`t think anyone will ever need that though lol (Well, maybe if you wanna have a kid workout).

Dumbbell handle ... I think you are right about that. I wanted to keep it wide to have some headroom for hand movement, so that the plates wouldn`t cut into the lower arm on some poses. Maybe I went a bit too safe there, but it also depends on viewing angle a bit. Like you said, easy to scale if you need to.

Weight Stacks ... lol, frankly I couldn`t quite figure out what numbers would be reasonable, and since I had tons of reference images without numbers I kept it like that ;)
Btw, in general I think most things are equipped with the top end of reasonable weight, since it`s easier to remove than to add (disc weights are included as seperate preloads though in case you want to add).

This one surprised me! I don`t know about stores other than Daz, but I felt a Gym set was long overdo. I know there are a few sets, but they are more like "lift weights in your cellar" style.

WOW.. this looks really great.  Will this be for both DS and Poser or just DS?  I work primarily with the Hivewire figures and would love to do a pose set for Dusk and Dawn but I try to keep it even Steven so both camps are included.... Now that DAZ has some Poser published artists back in the fold it MAY be a good idea if your on the fence about it...

Hey RAMWolff ... sorry, this is actually my first set in quite a while which is Daz Studio only.
There`s a ton of items in it (offering everything in 3 color versions made it explode a bit), so I prioritized 3Delight and Iray.

    Looks great!  Yes release now!

RAMWolff ... Sorry for disappointing there. It`s not a general decision for my sets though, I`ll have some Daz Studio exclusives, but stay with Poser on other sets.

Release now ...would that I could ;)
It`s basicly ready though, so I hope it won`t be too long till release. I`ll update as soon as I get a release date.

Oh, you don't have to applogize.  Just curious if I can just export them as CR2's to work in Poser (I say CR2 because of the working parts .... not a prop??)

No cardio machines, hot tub, or smoothy bar????

    Just kidding!

    Looks great!

Seriously, think of this as a series. jdavison67 is right, those things would be instant sells as future expansions.

Just gave this a quick test run, got to add I never used the exporter before.
The machine exported well including the sliders for posing/animating. But pretty much all Workout Stations have parented props (e.g. the weights which are parented to a joint), those didn`t export with it for me. Might be you can set the exporter up for that, might be it would require extra exports and reassembling (which would be a bit of work, each weight is a seperate item).
Other than that ... Subdivision settings didn`t transfer and were greyed out for me in Poser, no clue where to activate them lol. Materials looked quite fine to me.

Thanks :) I skipped Cardio machines on purpose tbh.. I know I have seen running machines and stuff like that on the shop, I wanted to focus on pose/animateable strength machines.
Got to admit a smoothy bar never crossed my mind lol.

At least one small addon is planned, we`ll see where it goes from there. I agree it could turn into a little series.

  • This is a really good-looking set.  That last batch of promo shots, I looked at the top one and and my first thought was "This must've been one of the reference images."

I must try rendering some images of myself working out...

Maybe it will have a positive effect. :)

    Looks good.

  • Oh, this is awesome! Watching with great interest.

Do you use the DSON Loader Python script at all? http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=dson_loader It's remarkably effective at bringing most DAZ only products into Poser.

It's funny, I spent a lot of time in the store this morning looking for a detailed gym that I'd seen. Tried about 10 different searches, then give up. Logged into the forum, saw your thread and remembered this was the gym I had been searching to find. Hope to see it soon.
