I use the LIE option for the brow colors because it's faster for the work flow AND makes for a lighter product. I have heard some push back from customers that my girls are resource intensive. Using LIE allows more options with a lighter footprint.
Make sure that you are using both the gens AND and the gens torso together for a seamless application.
I like no-brows options because I can either add brows with a LIE or Geoshell, or add actual modeled eyebrows of several different kinds if I want that fidelity.
And both options let me color the brows as appropriate.
(Personally I prefer geoshell for flat brows because it's WAY easier to adjust as one set)
I also appreciate the no brows and no makeup options so while of course I'm not going to browse every PA in the store, no offense to any PA it is a practical matter, to find out which do and don't do that. It saves me time from window shopping and wringing my hands too much knowing a product will have a no brows, no makeup, and anatomic elements options as standard with all their products.

Starred thread as that'd be really cool given my failed efforts in Gimp & my mouse.
It ain't that stupid, timmins.william. I've done it with Genesis when I was looking for a smooth skin (minus facial and body hair) to use for a male elf. I used the natural no-makeup face. It actually looked pretty good, and since the female groin parts were hidden under clothing, you couldn't tell the difference. The chest materials conform to the male torso, so unless the nipple texture happens to be very large, it works quite well.
It's harder to do the reverse with a male skin on a female figure, unless you can find a pre-teen with no beard or chest hair.
I choose a character for skin and 3Delight materials. I don't worry about morphs with the exception of some faces, but body morphs I do myself. I rarely use a character straight out of the box without modifying him/her.
I look at makeup options for women, and if male characters include facial hair (like Alfred for G2M with a goatee and eyebrows). Eyes, tattoos, fangs, elf ears, etc. contribute to my choices. I also keep my eye out for anything really unusual for fantasy/horror renders, like the characters from surreality.
I figured the product size was an issue. Doesn't bother me, more options.:)
Both textures have the same seams; I'll await feedback from CS.
Please send me pictures. Then I can fix them efficiently and quickly
Sent you a dropbox link.
Yes, for me it is the skin, and the shape of the face that I am mostly interested in.
I would like to see images others have done with item, similar to what you see at other sites. That helps a lot also.
Dracorn: The stupid part is that it shows how arbitrary the prohibitions are.
Same skin, but if the figure is declared female, NOPE.
Not arbitrary at all, more having to do with society and it's morals/ethics than anything at DAZ. I tend to think that DAZ wouldn't have a problem with it if peoples sensitivities weren't offended at work to naked female virtual figures or credit card companys didn't have issues with any of it being associated with porn
Good News Everyone, turns out there were no errant seams on that girl!! I love it when that happens!
so... back to why we choose the characters we do......
Not exactly a character per say, but...
I didn't buy http://www.daz3d.com/twin-tails-for-genesis-3-female-s because I wanted one with straight hair instead of the crinkly hair that everyone seems to make.
I didn't buy http://www.daz3d.com/fayette-hair-for-genesis-3-females because (see previous line)
It's surprisingly really hard to find hair that just looks like ... hair. Like normal straight hair that was tied into a bun, or a ponytail, or pigtails. There's always some extravagence that you can't remove. They're very pretty, but not particularly useful for making a character with.
Well the simple answer to that, is because I like them. :) Hence why I buy a lot of yours.
The levels of hypocricy are truly staggering.
Seeing as virtually all female (and some male) content is purely skimpy sexualised clothing and most female character morphs are presented in highly sexual poses and situations I think there isn't much moral high ground to claim. A bit like a No Sex Please, We're British farce where the blatant obvious can be ignored.
I would appreciate that very much. I for example don't like too much make-up and overly hairy male characters, so I always look for male skins with no or not too much body hair. I even passed characters I would have bought if they weren't so hairy. Same with beard stubbles. E.g., I really like Darius 6 (btw: where is Darius 7???), but not his 5 o'clock shadow.
I like 'characters with personality'; individual characters - male and female. Imagine: Even young women possess something like individuality...
! There are more than enough plastic dolls who more or less all look the same in the market. And yes, I too noticed that some vendors have a tendency to use the same skins/morphs again and again...
.
Yes, some stuff is obviously sexualized, but other stuff can actually be fairly normal in some situations, if you look beyond the experience you have with people.
It always puzzled me why nipples are a big no-no, while 'orgasmic face' pose sets are just fine :P
Well, there's Utah law (similar in the law of other states), for starters: Title 76 - Criminal Code, Chaper 10 - Offenses Against Public Health, Safety, Welfare and Morals, Part 12 - Pornographic and Harmful Materials and Performances
"(6) "Nudity" means the showing of the human male or female genitals, pubic area, or buttocks, with less than an opaque covering, or the showing of a female breast with less than an opaque covering, or any portion thereof below the top of the nipple, or the depiction of covered male genitals in a discernibly turgid state."
So, disregarding any "right or wrong" of what's in such type of rules meant to protect minors (because that's a discussion that would get this post deleted in no time), but companies like DAZ, credit card companies, PayPal, do have to abide by local laws.
Yea, I get that it's US law, it just puzzles me anyway (and getting off-topic, apologies), some places even require that you censor babies nipples if the baby is female..
UK law is also interesting.
I'm having trouble thinking of a reply that would get left as it is. :)
But we should really stay on topic. Although said topic would be interesting to discuss.
Simply said, because some people/the state have sued based on the words in that law, and a court of law has defined just exactly what defines, for example, as "female nipples". Depending on where and when, and who the judge is, it can mean "adult female", "any female", or "females with cupsize EE", or whatever. The variations are mind-boggling, but it would be all covered under the same text of law.
At first I bough characters entirely based how their promo pics looked, but nowadays I mainly look the skin like most of you. Missing gen textures is a big malus, and I generally skip all characters that don't have those. Then finally there's of course how different the character feels compared to the rest of the shop. Like Ivan is my new favourite character, and I also bought George just for giggles, even I have no idea where I could use him.
There have only been two times I've rendered stuff with visible gens:
Classical Greek-style statues (in which case it doesn't matter because I'm applying marble shaders)
Old naked guy mostly as a joke.
So, yeah, I'm in the camp of 'couldn't care less if there are gen mats'
I tend to skip promos where the brows are cover by hair. I'm very picky about brows, So when I can't see the forehead in a promo, I tend to pass. I don't care about genitals, since I'm going to cover that region anyway. The face is THE single most important feature. I prefer to see at least one bald promo to take a look at the face shape. I hate when hair is used to hide the shape of the head and neck. It makes me think PA's are trying to hide something rather than making the girl look sexy. PAs, say no to bangs in promos.
Yep, I could say the same about G2 and 3Delight, but I'm always happy when I see them supported in new clothes, because if I someday need to wear them on G2 or want to try 3Delight I know I have that option.
eyebrow are a very common concern.
At least for me, hiding the brows is always an accident. I spend way too much time on them to hide them on purpose. With that being said, I did change the way I approach the brows recently and have found a very positive response from customers with that. So yes... girls should show off their brows!!
