This Netflix original series... holy poot.
If you are a fan of the strange, and you remember the 80s, you will adore this series. There's a good chance you will even if those aren't true.
I can't do it justice without spoiling it, but it's like a bunch of 80s scifi movies were blended together and then remade with great modern skill.
The music, sounds 80s. The title sequence, looks 80s. The acting is top-notch (Matthew Modine and Winona Rider!!), and ... seriously, go watch it.
The only really terrible thing is that it's only an 8 episode season and now I'm in the show hole...

Here's the title sequence:

I enjoyed it, and that is not easy to accomplish after "Game of Thrones". Had a fast enough pace to keep me interested, was nostalgic, had a decent story line and good acting. Sort of an 80's sci-fi, coming of age show.
I loved it. It was like a Stephen King/Stephen Speilberg colaboration from my childhood. :)
Though what probably impressed me the most was making Georgia look like Indianna in Winter.
I'm really looking forward to season 2.
I tried it. Twice now. Not my cup of tea I'm afraid. Horror fiction.
I bought the entire 5 season set of Mr Ed recently. Mr Ed is a hoot.
I watched it last night. It is pretty good!
Here's a list of the 80s movies it reminded me of at various points: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/803826/STMovies.txt
(potential spoilers!)
There's another obvious Stephen King story/movie, but it's way more recent.
The creators obviously are riffing heavily on King, and at various points in the series characters comment on Stephen King stuff or are reading Stephen King novels. Heh.
Food for nightmares...
And a nice side-by-side video:
