One way of making this work could be to make a gallery with the user renders ( who have consented to that) and add a link to the gallery to the store site, like " more of this mady by happy users could be seen here..." that way paied promos (or those made by the creators themselves which ends up at the same place as it is theyr worktime invested) with the special intent to show the possibilities of the product.
I peronally like seeing renders made by users of a product and the success of Novicas thred here http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/73545/new-novica-forum-members-tips-product-reviews-pt-7#latest proves the this is true for many. But as well I like good promos that show me what the vendor intended it to look like.
If we could get all the vendors that do threads on their products to put them in the same place, it would certainly help with finding them.
You have both options there, actually. Vendors should be allowed to showcase their products in a "real" situation if they choose to.
I've always liked seeing user made art. The DAZ Gallery already cross references the images if the drop down product listings are used. There's apparently further implementations in the works to link to the store pages, and PAs are notified, and will be able to choose if they want to showcase these images in a more significant way. When? don't know.
In the meantime, if I see something interesting that uses FirstBastion created content, I showcase it here in my "Sightings" thread.

A PA selling their product with the expectations that the end user is going to try to fulfill the seller's PA vision for the PA's product clearly doesn't doesn't understand how the market works or shouldn't be compromising their artistic vision if that's how they really feel.
That is what can be done in the current DAZ Gallery and it what I do when I post an image I made in my personal gallery for most products in the DAZ Store although somethings it is confusing to try and remeber what product something you've used is from. For example I make a Girl 7 render recendtly and used the corsett from thr Darkness Outfit but I couldn't remember the product the Darknest Outfit comes from. It turns out it is included in the Genesis 3 Starter Essentials.
However, it does not work of course for products bought or downloaded off site. I still list those but there is no link to the product when I do that.
I don't see too much need for this on new products, but would love to see something like this on older products for two reasons.
1. Some of the older products, or products brought in from other stores, don't have much in the way of previews. Especially the really old stuff with 3-digit product codes.
2. Iray. If a product was made before Iray came around, I want to see a new render of how well it will convert using the default iray settings.
I would hope that DAZ could set something like that up which didn't require more than a yes/no on their part, and leave the rest to volunteer renderers.
Some of the old stuff doesn't convert to well to iRay if you are not a PBR shader expert that can configure the results yourself. For example the Toonimal Goldfish & Goldfish Bowl
Good points. A lot of those older products really do have promos that look considerably out of date now, and are not helping to encourage sales of those products at all. Since most PAs admittedly don't have time to go back and do new promos for older products, having actually users do them seems like a gravy deal to me.
Let's not forget that some vendors don't remember where they got content used, or they use content that came.from other stores or hasn't been released here yet.
