DAZ, by not having end times for sales, you are losing money!

WonderlandWonderland Posts: 7,134

I just spent over an hour loading my cart, was about to check out and then the prices went up by over $100. I removed everything from my cart, now just going to buy a couple of Fast Grab things. Maybe. I'm so annoyed, I may not buy anything. What a waste of over an hour of my life...

More correctly, by not checking out faster you are losing products, LOL. Seriously, we have all experienced this and figured out how to get the most out of it. Rule of thumb, never spend an hour shopping during a blink or fash sale, they go quick. Personally while I may have missed a few deadlines, I have gotten some sweet deals from these types of sales

When working in the DAZ store, I find it better to have multiple smaller purchases rather than a large one except in the case where you need to meet specific constraints or are on a one-time % off coupon.

Usually based on my shopping expierence it is just a glitch in their shopping cart software and if you refresh the page a time or two the discounted prices show backup. Also, it's better to have a longer time-out before DAZ logs you out because that will make it look like the prices have gone up too.

Yeah, but knowing whether you've got forty minutes or five to do the shopping would be extremely useful information to have, and would absolutely change the approach of people to the deal.

Me, I do the five-minute shop more often than not - just to be safe - and this probably means that I'm not scouring the deals as closely as I otherwise would, and thereby purchasing less from DAZ overall.

Probably why they do it that way, so users jump on the purchase rather than having time to think it thru. I have talked myself out of purchases plenty of times when I had the time to do so.

    I agree with the OP!

there are many times that I have missed the sale price, only to empty my cart and not buy ANYTHING.

    This is exactly correct.
it is a long standing  psychological ploy that preys on the artifically created sense of "urgency" in the buyer.
Just like when the Car Dealerships tell hapless buyers they only have two of this vehicle left "in stock"

It's happened to me more times than I can count. Whenever it happens, I empty my cart and remove all items from my wishlist. If DAZ doesn't want my money, I just can't be bothered. I buy a ton during the normal course of things and DAZ could get me to spend even more. Dunno. Maybe it works for them.

I got burned by this recently and emptied my cart as well. At first, I was annoyed, but then as I was reviewing whether or not to Wishlist the items for purchasing later, I decided I didn't really need any of items and I was happy to have saved my money. Daz does a great job at creating a sense of urgency and shopping the sales can be kind of addictive. Every now and then, it's probably good to miss out. There's always another sale, lol.

This is why my wish list is massive lol - By having all the items I want on my wish list it makes it so much easier to find the items I'm really wanting when these sales show up. I just look for that little yellow heart and that makes things much faster and easier.

I tend to only buy a few at a time as well.  ONLY exception to the rule is when I need specific items for promos then its a big load up and go purchase regardless of sales or not.

Agreed. In flash sales, and other sales, I mostly buy items in my wishlist. No need to scroll around like crazy.

    These are my "basic rules":

    • When a flash sale is already "on", and you are within 15 to 20 minutes past the hour, chances are that the sale will end and you lose the discount.
    • Buy well before midnight DAZ-Time. Sales switch then, and while it might be there for a few more minutes, you could find yourself checking out and the price goes up...
    • Giftcards & Store credit are your friend, so you don't have to wait for that money to arrive.
    • There's always going to be another sale. Only rarely, an item is needed so badly that it has to be "bought right now". (Or, in Commander Ivanova's infamous words: "No Boom today. Boom tomorrow! There's always a Boom tomorrow!")

On the upside, a lot of things will go on sale every now and then, and if you don't actually need them at the time just wait for the next sale. There is the PA sale coming up end of summer and the PC sale in fall where you can make fabulous deals if you have the time to wait.

Its the terrible exchange rate thats put me off buying anything more now. Now £1 = $1.3 !!

You can thank Brexit for that Daz, sorry! (obviously not Daz's fault). Maybe when/if it rises again I'll spend again, but no way am I buying anything from the US before then.

Just so I'm not completely off-topic... I also agree with the OP.

Except folks get wise to sale ploys - for want a less complementary description - and I'd guess judging by others as well as my own posts, it just creates feelings of frustration, annoyance.

Frustration and annoyance are a bad thing to create.

I know what might happen, so blink sales i only check to see if anything in wishlist. I made the mistake of looking for something yesterday after adding an item. Well the five minutes it took me was too long. I didn't buy anything including the $40 dollars unrelated. After all, there is always another sale, and that $40 will be cheaper when it's not new.

the promotional experience on this site has some incredible opportunities, and while this has been brought to the attention of this forum again and again Daz chooses to stick with their business model.

    Two words:

    blockbuster video

yes, those come out to a total of fwo.

If at least they ended it on the hour, you would know at 2:15 that you have 45 minutes, but they end them at odd times, like 2:17 PM, 3:11PM, whatever... I know I will NEVER buy those products unless they go down as low as they were in my cart. I didn't NEED any of them, I was only going to buy them because it was such a good deal, and I stacked my cart with almost $150 of great priced stuff, then it went up suddenly and I emptied my whole cart. DAZ is usually a genius at marketing, but I think this policy is backfiring... You need a new product for the prices to work on some, at least for stacking, so I wasn't going to check out quickly, I wanted to milk that new item for all it was worth. So I usually load my cart with a whole bunch of other stuff. But if the sale ends, I delete it all. It's Daz's loss... And unfortunately the PA's too...
