anyone need a texture artist?

I've seen some really awesome clothing items in the store lately especially from Rhiannon, I'm in love with the clothing items. But I can't afford to buy anything new right now due to not having a job at the moment. So if anyone is willing to share the product with me, I will do some textures for it since I do need the cash and practice. I did have items here but they are gone now. Not sure why, it could be because the item I had done the textures for are no longer here. Which would make sence and be understandable. It has been a few years.
I have done a lot of textures in the past and stopped for a while due to family issues (mother passed away), marrage issues (divorce), moving issues (moved back to Texas),computer crash issues (Stupied computer lost everything) and recently graduating from culinary collage (not an issue, a happy and exciting day for me). But those issues are done and I'm free to do other things.
So if you are interested, please let me know.
Thanks

Sharing a DAZ model or product is not allowed by the EULA... Someone might be able to buy you the product as a gift, if they were interested, but without references to previous works or texturing jobs, that might prove to be highly unlikely.
Not to be a downer or killjoy, but requests to share products are highly frowned upon by DAZ.
I just thought you might want to know this in case you hadn't come across this previously.
Your best bet would be to post examples of your work and then contact some vendors to see if they would need a texture artist for their products. Start a thread in the Art Forums and with examples of your work and hopefully that will gain you some interest from vendors or those that might want to purchase the product for you so you could work on it.
BTW welcome back to Texas!
I think they are talking about the content creator. If you would like ot be considered then you need to show examples
Yes i think she's talking about working in collaboration on a project, not file sharing. If that's the case, i'm not sure how that works either outside of daz. i imagine there are a few top tier pa's here with high product output that outsource work, so maybe? It might be a good idea to give some examples of work to give people an idea of your workflows and standard of output.
No no no I wasn't talking about sharing files without paying for them, if its a gift thats fine, but as for sharing it, I would never do that. I was talking collaboration wise. I should have stated that and tried too change it, but it wouldn't let me at the time and got side tracked trying to figure out how to close Carrara since it won't let me.
As for the samples of the work I've done. The one texture set for the Aiko Armor is no longer there, the armor is, but not my texture set. I do have some samples that I have done with other clothing items and second skins that I made a few years back before Daz Studio came out. I have yet to figure out how to use the program, since I lost my Poser Pro Program years ago. I've been trying to figure it out since last week. I know that sounds bad. But as for the samples of my previous work I could post them over in that other forum if its easier.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.
I forgot to say thanks. :)
When you get aquinted with daz you could look into creating texture expansions for products already on the store. Once you are a vendor, you could pair up with modellers and split product revenue directly through daz. Forbidden whispers and david brinnen do this quite often, and they are a great team.
Before that though, you mentioned you have been away for quite a while, and both the technology and workflows may be a bit different now. Iray shading is quite different to the old 3dl/firefly shaders, and a lot of artist extract maps from high poly sculpts. It's not quite as tricky as im probably making out, but you may want to invest some time in sharpening your skills before taking on work.
Good point, I never thought about it that way. I guess I figured it would be the same as it had been back then, Get the item and the map and make the texture for the item, add the texture, render it, check that sems line up and so on. I didn't know there was more to it these days.
Back to the drawing board. :)
Thanks for the advice though. it helped.
Well, it depends. I don't want you to be dissuaded in any way, shape, or form. If you've done it before, i have no doubt that you can pick up where you left off - it just might be a good idea to get a feel for the new content on the store, especially the use of new map types (SSS, Translucency, metallicity etc.). They certainly aren't need in all cases, but having a decent grasp of the concepts will make you much more well equipped and valuable as a team mate (If that's the road you want to go down).
It might be worthwhile to pick up a product (or even a freebie) from the store, re-texture it and play around with the new shader parameters to see what you can come up with. It doesn't have to be a long drawn out affair, and i'm sure people would be willing to help on the forums if you get stuck.
Good luck :)
Very true, I didn't know it had all the other types of maps. But I could grab a freebie and see where it takes me. no harm in trying right?
Sorry, the post count and new name made me think you might not be aware of EULA terms... Sometimes people have asked questions like that... Some innocently, some not so much... But that was meant in a friendly manner.
Some artists will do textures from freebies (I think Sanbie at Poser For Dummies has some neat items that are encouraged to have additional texture sets made for)... Then they'll post them as freebies on ShareCG as portfolio items or to show off their skills.
Good Luck.
You can't get away with just a diffuse and bump map anymore in most cases (sometimes it works but your other surface settings have to be spot-on.) Learn DS and Iray, familiarize yourself with Uber surface and AoA Subsurface for 3Delight, and then come back and talk to us.
Note: displacement does not work the same in Iray as it does in 3Delight or Firefly.. it's really not worth using in most cases. Normal maps are the prefered method for Iray. Normal maps don't have a strength slider in 3Delight and they show up much stronger than they do in Iray.. so either make your normal maps to look right in 3Delight and then raise the strength in Iray.. or use displacement maps in3Delight and convert them to normal maps for Iray. (There is a nvidia plug-in for photoshop that will convert a displacement map to a normal)
Here is a bunch of very nice free things to practice on.. https://www.wilmapsdigitalcreations.co.uk/introduction.php
I'm sure people would love more textures for them, basic to advanced.. making freebies is a great way to (re)learn.
Good link Fisty!!
Sounds like an interesting offer, but without any examples it is hard to convice anyone. I do not need any help right now as I have not started my modeling project quite yet. I will start it soon.
Hello DifferentDolls. I'm also a huge fan of Rhiannon's work. Congrats on the graduation, and so sorry about the sucky stuff.
My advice is going to be very similar to Fisty's. There are tons of quality freebies out there to practice on. You can get the latest copy of Daz Studio, and it comes with a bunch of free stuff like the Genesis base, Genesis 2 male and female bases, and the Genesis 3 male and female bases. There are a few Starter Essentials content packs included that come with some clothing items, hairs, props, and sets. I think that should go a long way to getting you back in the swing of things. Also, check the freebies section here too. http://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models#
Best of luck!
thank you for the advice and the links, they do help. I will be getting to work on figuring out all the newer stuff soon and I will post some of my older stuff...somewhere.
But again, thank you.
