After Aging Morphs 3 is complete I will be working on SkinBuilder3. So far we have some of the files and structures in place but it's all very much in pieces. We are merging Skin Overlay with SkinBuilder so it requires some redoing. That's the plan anyways. All I know is that the new script works a lot faster:)

will eyebrows and phair be in skinbuilder 3 again and will there be two versions again? if so I'll go pro again but just so know in case not released same time and have to wait, so skin overlay is being combined with it will this also include all the same as previous version freckiles, stretch marks extra? And will there be a male version?

I cannot confirm until production is in full scale. At that stage, most of what to include or leave out takes place. So for now I cannot give a definate answer. I am leaning towards just one version though. Male version, well I will have to see when I get there.

I'm hoping that if this version includes tan lines, there'll be some that aren't based on skimpwear.

    ...no G3F version?

There will be a G3F version. By one version I meant just pro and no basic offering.

  • ANGELREAPER1972ANGELREAPER1972 Posts: 4,555

pro is the way to go but even there were two versions I'd go pro lots of options then

Zev0 - As far as a Genesis 3 male version of Skin Builder goes ... assuming that your textures will be for the G3F Base Female UV and that you're willing to take the blowback for not doing textures for the dangling bits, you could include a few extra options -- a few heavier/bigger eyebrows, maybe light beard textures as overlay options -- and then tell people if they wanted to use Skin Builder Pro on male characters, they'd need to have Sloshwerks UV Setter utlilty (http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-uv-swap-male-and-female-base).

That way, you'd only need to create one set, but it would work for both sets of characters.

It was easier to do that with the Genesis 2 version, but then, all you needed to do then was copy the UV files to the right place and everything just worked. That's not quite the case with G3.

Will you be building an LIE Baker-type function into the program, or will that still be left separate?

If I do a male version I want to do it properly, including Gens. I will consider all suggestions when production starts. The hardest part is the right base skins, everything on top of that is easier to do.

..so I already have Skin Builder Pro 2 which is for Genesis Female and G2F.  Will 3 Pro be an update to this?

3 Pro will be designed for Genesis 3. It's not an update.

I'm having an issue all of a sudden with the skin builder.  I build the skin on the character everything is all done and I save as a character preset. However, all of a sudden when I try and load the character preset it starts to load then it just stalls.  No error message it just never finishes loading.  its not just one character either, three of the characters I have tried it with won't load at all after I have saved as a character preset. I tried saving it as a scene subset and the same thing happened.  I am using 4.9.1.30.  Nothing has changed I haven't updated anything on my computer (I have all auto updates turned off and am running Windows 7 so microsoft can't force updates on me). I haven't changed any setting in Studio so I am not sure what's happening.

I have both skin builder and skin builder pro and this is on the Genesis 2 female character.

Hmmm, the product cannot just break. If it worked before then it should work now. Something else is at play here. Try clearing your cache in Studio and see if that helps.

Check the log files for any errors. I just tried a couple of old presets I had saved (as material presets), and they loaded up fine. Granted it does takea awhile to reload since Daz Studio has to rebuild the image files to the temp folder.

I kind of figured that it wouldn't just break and its worked perfectly up until now.  I have a couple of ideas of what might be causing it but want to test it out before I open my mouth and put my foot in it lol.  I am at work all day and its our anniversary so I may not get to test out my theory until tomorrow.  It may have to do with an update to a different script because that's the only thing I can think of that has changed.  But I have to test it on my normal characters first.  Thank you for your quick response.  I will also check my log files as well although it didn't actually show an error its just froze.  I know it can take a bit for it to put it back together and load it up but its usually a couple of minutes and not 15-20.  I will also contact a couple of friends who have the same script that might be causing the issue and ask them to check it out as well and see if we can narrow it down.

What can we do to convince you that this is worth your effort?

What sort of bribery will work? Cookies? Whiskey? Donuts... just tell ME!

I've owned this product for I don;t know how long, but I never really used it.  I just started and was so damn impressed with the outcome that I can't stop fiddling with it now... but I really just do  guys 85% of the time, and well those dangly bits are kind of important.

Will look at UV swapping. Problem is that this version will be a merchant resource so you don't want people selling male content with a female UV. It's just tacky. So, I will see how all this can be solved. If I do a male version I prefer native male UV's. Regarding the baking option, I will have to confirm with Draagonstorm. Right now my focus is on the Aging Morphs 3. Will give SkinBuilder all my attention once this current set is done and dusted:)

Okay I have the log file from the latest not responding crash. Sorry its so long. I totally cleared the log file, then went and tried to load the character so the only thing in the log file would pertain to the crash (I hope lol)  I have someone who has this product and the product that I think is causing the problem but I don't want to say anything until she confirms for me.  May not be til tomorrow before she has time to test it but maybe this will help narrow things down as well.

Sonja, I'm getting those same error messages at the top about the "WARNING: libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile"  and my Skinbuilder is still working fine, but with just slight delays in loading.  I should note that I've been getting the quoted warning when loading DS up with a blank new screen as well so that is definitely not a SkinBuilder issue, but a DS issue.  I have also been getting cloud warnings, too, and I don't even use the cloud.  I don't have this part in my logfile:

This all looks like the Randomizer part of the figure as most of it has to do with the morphs.  It looks like it can't find some of the outputted morphs the randomized figure has or it doesn't like the values.  I'm not sure which.  I should note that I'm using 4.9, but without the connect part. I don't know if that makes a difference.  It looks like it may not be the SkinBuilder part that is having the error.  Just a guess on my part, though.  In all of the tests you had me do, all of my randomized characters with SkinBuilder skin loaded fine after saving and reloading.  I'm not having any issues with my Randomized characters at all and I've been using it for the last couple of days quite a bit.  The only reason I hadn't tried SkinBuilder on my figures before was because there isn't a G2M version and I've been doing mostly males.  Let me know if you want me to test out anything specific.  I would test your .duf file, but I don't have Nabila so it wouldn't work on my setup.

If you want to blend V5 UV based skin that isn't one of the built-in defaults, just copy the textures into the texture folder (\Runtime\textures\DSZV\SkinBuilder\Skin\), move the original face/limbs/torso textures of one of the colors (white/light/mid/dark) somewhere else for safe keeping, rename the new copied textures to the name of the texture it's replacing, then run the script.

Just be sure to go to your Daz temp folder and copy the blended textures for later use, and then replace your original copied texture with the texture that actually belongs there. If you lose the original textures, just uninstall and reinstall.

Theoretically, you could probably blend other UV skins of different colors by temporarily replacing more than one tone in the desired UV. You'd have to reset the UV manually from V5 to V4/M4/M5/Base Female and the makeup/brows/etc wouldn't really be usable as-is.

Yes. You will be able to either choose 3dl or iray for the skin.

@IceDragonArt I was getting similar sRGB profile warnings after I updated my video card driver and when I would load a character it would be fine until I moved the mouse pointer over the viewport then DS would just shut down.  The fix for me was to go into my nvidea settings and set DS program to use the graphics card only then I had no more errors...not sure if this would help you or not.  This issue only happened on my Windows 7 laptop wwhen I updated the driver, it was not happening on my windows 10 desktop.

Knittingmommy thank you for testing for me.  I'm going to go ahead and uninstall and re install the randomizer just in case.  Studio looks like it is trying to load it and it gets to about 98 % then it just freezes.  Didn't have any issues until the update and this is the first chance that I have had since its been updated to try it.  But if you aren't having issues the problem is most likely on my end so will try that and see what happens.  The skin builder is working fine on everything else so I don't think the issue is there.

Kharma thank you I will go and have a look at that. I have a new pc but it does have windows 7 on it as I loathe Windows 10 and am doing my best to avoid it as long as possible lol.  I will go and have a look at the settings.  I have it set to not update anything because there was some issues with DS and one of the updates and I didn't want to deal with having to fix them but I will see if that helps as well.

Worst case scenerio if I can't get it to work right after I reload it I will talk to SimTenero and honestly, I write my formulas down for my skins anyway since you never know when something is going to go wrong lol, I can always just save the character and then apply the skin as needed.  I also have the reciper builder and save most of the recipes so I have the skins stored there as well.

If you decide to make a male version I will buy it in a heart beat....

Edited to add, I started here because I didn't have any problems until I added the skin builder to the character but its obviously not an issue on this end of things.

    Thanks for the help everyone!

Everything seems to be working as it should now, no freezing, no errors and only taking a minute or two to load. No idea what happened but its all good now.

Glad to hear. We managed to make the script help studio load the textures a lot faster for the g3 version. We have a revised one for g2 as well but we need to test it all still and if all goes well the g2 version will get updated.
