  The "cape" has it's own surface called "sash". You can hide it easily enough by setting Cutout Opacity to 0.0 or by hiding it using the Geometry Editor and the Tool Settings tab.

  No, but it's pretty easy to turn the opacity off on the sash material to get rid of it.  :)
