reinstalling DAZ studio
in The Commons
Ah windows 8.1 finaly failed on me again, my system has the automatic repair loop syndrome and i have tried everything to repair this issue. My only option is to reinstall Windows. Luckily i have made backups and i can access my harddrive by using ubuntu.
So my question(s) are:
I have a backup from the "my daz 3d library" and also from the daz folder containing my scenes and renders etc... . Do i need other folders to restore DAZ studio?
The above mentioned folders where on my C drive, i would like to use my E drive now. Can this be done witouth problems (DIM issues, etc... .)?
Thanks in advance.

You just need to make sure that the content directory paths are set within Studio, and that the installation paths are st in DIM. The content paths should match. Both Studio and the content can be on different drives, and neither have to be on "C".
You also want the Install manager Manifests folder so that DIM knows what it has isntalled, assuming you use DIM to install. Your settings for DS, and for the CMS, are in the C:\Users\AppData folder (along with most other user-settings).
Thanks just started to reinstall windows.
One needs to have the cool of a buddhist zen master to do this kind of stuff. Microsoft my god..... .
