Also now that my CPU finally decided to finish with it, here's a quick no-makeup default Iray settings render of the base skin. All settings default, 4.8 legacy mats in 4.8.

Ohhh! There she looks really cute. Skin seems much brighter than in the promos. Generally she looks softer here. Now I'm thinking again of getting her...

She looks very CG Ghost in the Shell, but I'm not entirely sure how I feel about her face.

The lack of good introduction sale also makes me sad.

I'm really interested to know who made the "Lolita" character in the pro bundle - she isn't credited to anyone other than Daz.

    Hiya Hun,

That would be me "OziChick', i am so glad you like her. I am not sure at this stage why they missed by name but im sure they will fix it up xx

Great job, she looks awesome. And a reason I'm getting the pro bundle.

I was thinking of getting CyberFit and Sakura with the Pro Bundle, but it doesn't seem to include anatomical elements, and I'm not a fan of incomplete textures.

I guess I'll have to go with FaceIt and CyberFit too - Aiko's skin looks amazing but I still think her face is a bit weird.

I like her face; I always have issues with big eyes though so they will get dialed out. I'll be getting CyberFit and the Poses. Sakura I like but I'm with you on the anatomical elements; part of the product is missing imo. Just cause I rarely use em, is not a reason to accept their absence.

I like her better than Aiko 6. I can say that for certain.

I would say the other way around as I see Aiko 6 was the last of the Aiko series that had that certain charm..  Aiko 7 seems to have lost that Anime look that Aiko was known for..  Infact if you look at Aiko's 3 4,5 and 6 Aiko 7 looks nothing like them now..

Okay, time to point-out the obvious... The Razor-Cut Bob and Waterfall Tails Stylized Hairs are clear references to Biosock Infinite's Elisabeth and Vocaloid's Hatsune Miku.

Also, who else is noticing that all her content is now 100% J-Pop as opposed to anything traditionally Japanese? Hell, she's not even referred to as anything "Anime" in her description anymore. Aiko has officially become her own niche and everything specifically Anime/Manga is now Keiko's territory...

Yeah I would say that Keiko is the new Aiko when it comes to Anime/Manga characters, since Aiko 7 looks nothing like her forebears, to me she has lost all that made Aiko, Aiko..

I like her, maybe more than Aiko 6.  It's funny, I like manga (the books/comics) but not anime (the vids); but having said that, am looking forward to trying out a Miku Hatsune look-alike. I will, however, dial down the eyes; I find that creepy.

What was a surprise, and not a particularly good one, was that I had a quick look at Aiko 6 Pro bundle; it had fifteen items.

Aiko 7 has 11; even if one takes advantage of the offer and buys two extra, it is a difference.

I do, however, prefer it like that, being able to add two items I actually want as opposed to getting the bundle with items I don't need and will never use in it.

I think it's the lacrimals on the base Aiko 7 figure that make her look kinda odd to me. I find it interesting that she's different but I'm not sure if I'm the biggest fan of them being so pronounced either. But I love her skin, I like that she isn't a Victoria, and she has some really nice characters for her, so overall I'm happy with her.

...I must say, this is the first Pro Bundle I've seen in a long time where I actually like all the clothing.

*Sigh*, yet another wishlist item for now.

    +1

The Gothic Lolita outfit is outstanding, or looks it; not got time to try stuff out today.

And I even got to use my PC+ coupon on her; I've used both this month, something of a rareity.

Agree. It is one of the reasons this is the first pro bundle this year for me.

Honestly my first impression is kind of mixed, Loved Aiko 6 and knew that 7 will go further into game style figure instead of anime/manga territory, which I don't mind at all. But something seem to be missing with 7, I just don't know. Maybe more renders and preview of the new male character will make me jump on the bandwagon. Luckily funds for the new bundle will make me wait til the end of the promo next week to make me decide.

DAZ can we have some hype for the Male counterpart?

I like her, she's pretty. Has more personality and character than Aiko 6 : ) Won't be getting her though, I still need some other figures first!

  • nelsonsmithnelsonsmith Posts: 1,337

Yeah, she's definitely moved away from the old school anime look, but she completely matches up with a lot of the newer anime out there like GitS that are using more CGI and the final fantasy characters from the games.

I was never much of an Aiko fan, until Aiko 5 and Aiko 6 came out.  I have to say my favorite so far is Aiko 6.  Not sure how I feel about Aiko 7.  I'm not really a fan of how her face looks.  To me, and this is just my thinking, are they going for realistic look or anime look?  Because right now it's kind of an in between and that's what's keeping me from purchasing her.

I don't really render manga/anime characters, but I like the clothing in this set. I tend to like more mature looking figures, and anime/manga are too ambiguous age-wise for me.

However, I must say the set hit the mark with sci-fi content included here. Nicely done DAZ.

Quick test using some bundle elements.

Lolita character, OOT Waterfall Tails hair (using oot iray hair shader expansion) Goth Lolita dress, Magical Girl pose, FWSA soft probe xmas hdri freebie thing~

Well setting it up was quick, but rendering takes me forever. So when I was done I decided to butcher it with ps. Take that, cpu.

I wasn't so hot on the hair when I first saw the bundle, but both of them have quite a few useful options and now I've really warmed up to them. Wanted to do one testing the other hair and Natsuko too but rendering takes forever so it'll have to wait.

I think I'll pass. I've purchased various versions of Aiko and Hiro, but rarely used them. Aiko 7's wardrobe in the Pro pack leaves me yawning. I prefer "Everyday" clothes for my characters.

The thing is, with Genx and similar, you can transfer most of the older Aiko stuff, anyway...

One More that won't work in Carrara

  • She's very cute, kind of straddling that line between anime and reality.  And I do like the Alliance outfit.  Unfortunately, I know I'd never use her.

Just to finish the tests off, Natsuko with the bob hair, Umbris outfit, capses poses, donee

In retrospect I should have just done neutral tests of each character but I wanted to use the bundle items for once and these threads are more fun with pictures, so enjoy or skip, whatever~

I bought Aiko 7.  Won't have the chance to play with her until later this evening, but she looks like a good base.  Not quite as stylized 'out-of-the-box' as Aiko really should be, but she looks like she has a lot of potential.  We'll just have to see what some of the other character artists can do with her.  I expect we'll see some more stylized morphs for her in short order.  After all, she's Aiko....."little love'.....yep, she just needs a little love to get her to where she should be.

Though I wonder how she'll look with a little dial-spinning with some of the more toon/asian characters mixed in......

The watertails hair reminds me of Miku too. Guess it depends on which album covers you have looked at. There is no one single Anime look. There are some common tropes for looks, but there have always been Anime that break those. Plantetes from several years back stands out on that front for having realistic looking characeters (e.g. looking like thier respective ethnicity). Anyway, there are a lot of comparisons to Ghost in the Shell and last time I checked, that was a popular Managa and Anime franchise (plus an upcoming new movie). So I don't understand how peope say she doesn't look like Anime and then compare her to a famous Anime franchise.....  Edit: great Pro bundle, minus that lack of a decent sale.

lx, nice render. She reminds me of the Lotus character back in the G2 generation.

Also, given that Daz must have had plans for producing Aiko 7 for a while now, I'm surprised that they allowed a character called Akiko to be released for Mei Lin 7. Looks very different of course, but I can see the similar names leading to some confusion.

actually she does have private parts of sorts she has a gens mat which at first is very faint can barely see but if you have any other g3f pro bundles then you'd have the g3f antomical elements addon just add it then select it on her and in her materials click on the gen mat it is detailed and different to others she's fully shaved actually looking back at the pro page she does come with the antomical elements if you don't have any other g3 pro bundles you probably don't know where these are it's in the anatomy sub menu you gotta have your character selected and in smart menu click on anatomy submenu select and add it'll appear grey on character then in scene/paremeters expand character menu to select highlight that part and back in smarty on your characters materials select either skin tone or gen mat ok you probably more than likely know this but there's bound to be some that don't

Thanks. Yeah she reminds me a bit of her too. I liked Lotus and Riven a lot more than Aiko 6 (but not as much as I liked Karyanna, since she was an A6 character too.)

On clear naming, we have Leo 7 and Lee 7 (and have Teen Josie 7 and are getting Tween Julie 7) and those are all official figures...

@ANGELREAPER1972 We're talking about Sakura lacking them (at least so far as I can tell without buying) not Aiko.

  • WonderlandWonderland Posts: 7,133

I would love to see a render of part Aiko and part teen Josie or G3 or any other character,  if anyone feels like it... I'm still on the fence about this one... I use G1 or G2 characters for toon/anime stuff and use G3 only for realistic characters. Will probably wait till this is on a huge sale eventually, I'm not in a big rush for this really. Spent wayyyyyy too much money on weekend sales! There is not much of a deal on this one either it seems. I usually only get pro bundles when they come out to $37.00 or less (like Kimo!) or an individual character at $12.00 or less. If I see some amazing renders with Aiko 7 mixed with other characters, I may go for the $22 intro price, not sure...

She looks really good mixed with Girl 7

  • I'll toss up some renders soon of A7 mixed at 50% with the other iconic wimmens.

ah sorry my bad it late and tired  missed her name sometimes miss and jump sentences or parts of and combine different ones together  but if your luck and have any characters that have same skin tone with a gen mat you can still maybe able to find a gen mat in the surfaces tab that matches with whatever character your using that doesn't have one not everyone has a matching skin tone or close to it sadly but sometimes you can get pretty close and zev0 is working on a g3 skin builder

  • hphoenixhphoenix Posts: 1,335

Now I'm waiting on Keiko 7 so we can mix her with Aiko to get a more 'anime stylized' Aiko 7.  Though I still expect we'll see some custom morphs for Aiko soon enough!

I think she looks great 50/50 with Josie, and other combinations work well too. I'm not the biggest fan of Aiko 7's 100% model, but I love her skin (full of interesting changes similar to Mei Lin's.) My pc is stuck rendering so hopefully someone else can put up some images in the meantime.

I really want Keiko 7, but I thiiink I discovered today that Star 7 is going to be an official character. So there's that.

  • Here are the first 3. 50-50 mix of A7 with V7, Teen Josie 7, and Rune 7

They might be, but the waterfall tails hair looks nothing like Miku to me and the razor cut bob could just as easily be inspired by ghost in the shell (which Aiko trends really heavily towards these days) or any of a billion other characters with that sort of short hair. Trying to make Elisabeth or Miku with Aiko 7 would break my brain - I like her as she is, but she's about a billion miles from cute anime.

The outfits just look standard scifi/cyberpunk to me (apart from the EGL one which also is not J-Pop.)

I do like Aiko 7 (and more than 6 who felt really lost as to what she was trying to be) but she's very different from old Aiko, and certainly not toon/anime. She makes me think more cyborg - lots of realistic detail, yet also not quite real human. Kinda like this sort of style. Still hoping for a cute anime girl with proper anime style outfits but it's starting to feel like Daz isn't the place to deliver for that.

I'm really not really seeing a significant air of GITS with her. Even that face render you provided only makes look more like Elisabeth:

Also, it goes without saying that the promotional color of that Waterfall hair given it's pigtail style, is without a doubt a nod to Miku. After all, Miku's personified character is 3D and more tied to interactive media like apps (MikuMikuDance) and games (Project Diva) than anything traditionally 2D. So, it's quite appropriate that Aiko, a 3D J-Pop character herself, would be associated with her.
