Leg Hair for G3M

Hi:

Any advice on which fiber mesh or hair  products might work for leg hair for G3M? If it is fiber mesh, would like it to autofit...

Thanks.

Real Hairy for G2M autofits very well to G3M.

I've had good luck with Real Hairy as well. Though I ran into issues with some of the upper body hair. Autofit using  "full-body" worked well for fitting Unshaven (Genesis) to G2M, so I tried using "full-body" with Real Hairy. Big mistake. Select the corresponding clothing type for best results. In the case of leg hair, use "pants." If you use hair on the feet, use "footwear," etc. (You probably already know this, Serene, but for the sake of anyone new to DS searching for info: If you don't like the way something autofit, delete that one and start over. After it's been autofit once, it will automatically autofit to the same type on that figure. I learned that the hard way.)

Anyone had luck with Real Hairy for Genesis -> G3M? I've been so happy with it for Genesis and Genesis 2 I never bothered going further.

I do not have Real Hairy, but I do have http://www.daz3d.com/unshaven-body-hair-for-genesis. I tried it on G3M, and it seems to autofit quite well. However this only really adds lower leg hair, very little added to the thighs, if that is what is required.

Did a quick and dirty test with Michael 7, Real Hairy for G2M and Oh My Brows.  I used "full body" to autofit the legs, chest and forearms

@timmins.william sadly I don't have Real Hairy for Genesis: it came out after RH for G2M and at that time I was focusing on Generation 2 sadblush  Will get it when I see it on sale, though... wink

The big issue with REAL Hairy (either version) and G3M is that Genesis 3 is where Daz made G3M from a somewhat different mesh than G3F, with the differences concentrated in the chest area. (G2M tended to have rather ... fleshy pecs. Genesis didn't, but I'm guessing that maybe it made unusually flat-chested females and expanding the chest made for too much stretching? No clue.) What that's done is to relocate the nipples to a place that neither Autofit nor Transfer Utility seem to quite be able to work with. In both cases, it's usually pretty clear where the chest piece expects the nipples to be, and they're also not actually there. The clones/projection templates locate the nipples much higher than they actually are on G3M for this, for some reason. (Heh. Maybe that could be something someone could do. There's already a "Genesis 3 Male Alt Crotch" clone, so maybe someone could do a "Genesis 3 Male Alt Nipples" one for shirts. Or maybe someone could do an RTEncoded "Hey, projection template, nipples over here!" morph for REAL Hairy. Someone not me, that is, since I've no idea how to do that.)

Quick and dirty 3Delight render attached to show the issue. Default Genesis 3 Male, default REAL Hairy G2M chest piece. Switched REAL Hairy from TriAx to General weight, Transfer Utility, Shirt projection template.

There are also issues with Unshaven for Genesis, REAL Hairy (either version) and the Happy trail and abdomen pieces -- the navel also got moved -- but it's not quite so obvious, for some reason.

I was hoping that Mikey might be doing another version for G3M, but he doesn't seem to be active in this area any more. He was doing a fibermesh hair for G2M, but it's been radio silence from him for a while.

Looping somewhat back to the original topic, Real Hairy for Genesis works just fine on G3M. (Picked it up in Fast Grab a few weeks back, just in case it worked better than the G3M version for the chest. It doesn't.) Shown here with the thigh and calves pieces autofitted to Ivan with the Pants template. Quick and dirty Iray render.

Thanks everyone! really helpful. I admit, I own, bodyhair for the chest, arms, and er.. Anatomical elements  for g3m, but no legs or arms. I will try these products and see how they work.

I found what you said here very informative because I have noticed that when nipples are dialed in to a GM3 character they are usually out of line with the ones on the torso texture, and therefore look odd. I thought it was a texture map problem, but upon reading your above comments I now realise it's probably the chest mesh. This either needs a corrective morph, or the nipples on the texture maps need re-aligning.

I have both 'Real Hair' products that Mikey produced and use them a lot. It's a great pity he seems to have vanished from the 3d marketplace.

    Kind regards.

    smiley

Hmm. I've tested Unshaven. I like the way it does arm hairs, the leg hairs are rather... Thick individually. I think. But I think we are moving in the right direction. I tried for blonde, but sadly that made the hairs look even bigger. Will try real hairy and see how that works.

Real hairy used on all my characters - G2 version used on G3M.  As vwrangler said, the nipples are out of place but, to me, it's not all that noticeable.  However, all the legs and arm hair can hover from the limb, in tightly bent poses.  I was only thinking the other day, it would be nice if Mikey reappeared with some hair.

If the nipples geometry doesn't line up with the nipple texture then that is a texture issue (assuming you have the correct UV set) - please report any such instances as bugs.
