Painting onto diffuse texture within Daz3ds or Maya

I've imported a Daz G3F body into Maya and i'm trying to update the texture using the method described in the video. Its not working for me however and i was wondering if anybody knew how i could get this to work in either Maya or Daz3ds if it has that option. I know that it can be done in PS/Gimp but the texture has to match up with a mesh perfectly and doing it in PS/Gimp will require a lot of trial and error.

The Daz humans use multiple maps, in the older figures they are stacked on the base UV square but in Genesis 3 they use UDIMs. If Maya allows you to assign a different map to each UDIM tile and paint across them you need to do that; if not you will need to scale the maps to fit the UV base square without overlapping and bake the maps to fit that layout before assigning a new map and painting on it.
