A base character with a late forties-ish skin?  Maybe George made a bigger impression than we thought?

He would have been started well before they saw George so they went for this look all on their own.

who says daz don't listen? looks like they've taken notice been asking wanting an older more world weary character looks like we got him looks great and the extras/outfits cover a broad range too

Yes he looks pretty good from those promo pictures. His body shape is not to my liking but I could certainly use that head morph and texture, (in some of those pictures his body's skin looks like bubble-wrap).

I guess I had Dolph Lundgren circa 1980s in my head, but instead we get the contemporary version. (He's 58 now, and to me, Ivan looks about that age.) lots of character, but yeah, not quite how I pictured him.

And that mobster outfit and mobster look - so head on spot.
Only thing I miss is a badass scifi outfit. Dystopian or some kind of Terminator-inspired thing perhaps.

Wow, a mature character in his late 40s - early 50s! Definitely did not see this coming especially since Rune herself wasn't mature!

Well done Daz, he looks great! : ) I still want Kimo though so no Ivan for me right now sadly : (

Post your renders guys! I wanna see what you do with him!!

    Update: Actually, Ivan looks like he's in his 50s to me, not 40s : D : )

    Konstantin looks like 40s : )

I'm wondering why both Pavel and Konstantin have no body hair? He doesn't look like the type of guy who would wax...

I thought all of the same, and not just that he's a mature character, but quite a nicely done one too. I can't remember the last time I considered buying a Pro Bundle on the day of release (probably never), but I imagine all the other Genesis variants will be shuffling over to make room on my hard drive for him by the end of the day. He even made me take another look at Rune, who didn't interest me at all, but no, she's more of the usual. He definitely must be made of tough stuff to overcome the guards on the store door who typically only let the Beautiful People in :) Well done, Daz - he's great!

Yeah the lack of body hair in most male characters seems a bit strange. Most men out there aren't perfectly smooth and lasered.

Very well done, Daz. Shades of Svengar and Boris. I wish the sideburns on the hairs fit Ivan straight out of the box, but at least they are more mature-looking as well. I hope AprilYSH has not fallen out of favour, because her hairs are always excellent. Also, the entire Pro Bundle item list and associated textures were at least worth a look if not a purchase, which is nice for a change.

I don't use as many different male characters, but damn, this is the best Daz has produced, and I'm thinking of aquiring my first G3 male pro bundle.

A lot of men have little or no hair on their upper torso, including myself. Hair is much more common on the legs (as well as other areas of course).

My husband's definitely not the type of guy who'd wax, but it's a standing joke in our house that if ever two hairs emerge from his chest then he'll be desperately tying them together to stop them going back in again!

So... Since this is a G3M character, that means I can dial his body back to more normal sized, right. I'd still want a big guy, like 6' 4' and up, stocky, but not quite so wide. And I'm still wanting George. I tried some other large guy  morphs - can't remember if it was G2M or M4, but it didn't look as good George. Yay for older guys. Some great older male characters also can be had from Phoenix1966 and unique older women from Syyd Raven. You might have to go back over to RDNA to get some of the female morphs - they're V4 and I don't know if they're being brought over to DAZ or not.

Well, I don't like him. I'll buy the bundle anyway but will disregard his morphs. As a matter of fact I don't understand the trend that would have all ladies as sexy characters and all males as rugged 40+ characters as seen in many games. We have enough morphs to make any G3M male look from 30+ to 60+.

To me he looks a lot like The Freak line of characters especially the gangster promo pic..

Really great figure and Pro bundle. In the cart for sure. I'm really impressed. And we don't really have a figure like this for G3M, so I don't understand your compliant Erdehel. Great job DAZ!! So much potential in this bundle, really great job!!

Its good to get an older guy - the face morphs are far more realistic than prev GM3 characters. Not so keen on the body shape, but easy to mix with others shapes. Great that Daz is adding more diversity.

I'm not complaining! I actually LOVE the way his skin looks for once! And his face morph! I'm not crazy about the upper torso, but well... that's what we have morph dials for. ;) I'm also thrilled to see the hair from 3DCelebrity, too. It's about blasted time we started getting some good receding hair objects for the males.

Actually, a lot of guys don't have a ton of hair on their chest. My own husband barely has any at all on his torso. Legs and arms are a very different story. But guys have everything from nothing to gorilla and everything in between, when it comes to hair on the chest/back. To be perfectly honest, though, I much prefer to not have hair on the body texture. I vastly prefer to use mesh hair for those purposes, as it just simply looks far more realistic than baked-on hair ever can.

Well, Freak was always older. It seems to me that Ivan is this generations freak. and he includes a lot of the same stuff, Mobster, barbarian etc.

The face is very blocky. But I think the content will be useful for other things.

I like the way his head looks, but his body looks almost toonish to me. A more realistic body would have been appreciated.

Seems like a PA has given the people what they asked for.   I'm opening my wallet.  Hope everybody else does as well.

I don't think the body looks toonish but I think his face looks significantly older than the rest of his body which is kinda confusing. But overall it's a great looking character!

I'm glad Daz seems to be willing to experiment with male characters and not just the females as evidenced by creating someone older and not another model-like, conventionally attractive guy : )

I'm pleased with the Miles hair too. Almost all the hair for males are designed for someone in their 20s. Cool if you are making scenes at a college or a club but if you want to have things take place in a board room or a court you need some receding hairlines, shorter styles, etc.  The Miles hair looks pretty good, I'm  on the bubble since I just splurged on UHT2 and GenX stuff already this week.  Eventually though I'll pick it up.

Also have to add Ivan has a great Starter Bundle.  I can see a use for pretty much everything in there.  Looks like some thought actually went into this.

So by the time I get the clothing ourfits i would like, it is cheaper to get the bundle. But Gen 3 is not compatible in Carrara yet so on the fence.

The emergence of hairless options is likely in part due to the several fiber-hair options (not even counting the fiber hair plug-ins) now available.  Frankly, I'm glad to have the fiber hairs.  Mesh realism is more important than it's given credit for!

Agreed, kinda stocky and smooth. I read this thread before going to the store and actually seeing Ivan, so I had a whole other perception of the product and was let down once I did see it. I can see the usefulness of adding "some" Ivan morph to a character, especially the head morph, but that is about it for my needs. Still glad to see DAZ working more on diversity for figures as I would like another older male figure since I had another vision in my mind before seeing Ivan, thinner, more chiseled, with character, a younger Sam Elliot, Campbell Scott, or even Timothy V. Murphy look.

I agree the body looks a little toony - but a few more  body morphs dialed  in turns Ivan into one of the strongest male characters Daz have yet produced.

I happily bought the pro bundle but I do agree with much of the forum, Ivan is a departure from the norm.  This is a good thing and Ivan provides interesting artistic opportunities.  That said I do hope, if he isn't a big hit, the "male characters don't sell" trope isn't reinvigorated.   I've am very much pleased and encouraged by the current one-female-then-male marketing as of late, but if one takes risks, as Daz has done with Ivan, one might not make the sales as one would with a more conventional character.  In other words I do hope there is yet another male character available next month, it's something I look forward to.
