Hi Ruphuss, Thank you so much. :)
No need to dig out your Gen4's if you don't want to. While we've only just started learning DS ourselves, there are lots of helpful folks here much more knowledgeable than us, and there are a number of threads where people are discussing our characters sepcifically to Genesis2Male via the Gen2X converter.
@algovincian gives a straight-forward step by step on converting The Duke : http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1045710/#Comment_1045710
@Knittingmommy has a great thread here, and has done a fantastic job getting Daemones on Genesis2Male: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1047590/#Comment_1047590
The only things we know absolutely WILL NOT work in DS is Facial A-Hairness and Old And Wild, which both utilise Poser Dynamic Hair.
Hope this helps,
Have a greaqt day

While I haven't converted an M4, I have used Gen X2 to convert many V4 characters to G2F with no issues. I would expect M4 conversions to be similar. I suppose I should try since I have grabbed a couple of MortemVetus characters.
I have been able to successfully use the free Stan clown textures (Thr3e, 4our, etc.) on G2M with no conversion needed :)
i have genx 2 and there was just an update to this
i do not know how to install this correctly
I am a huge MV fan. I've never seen anyone else expend so much energy in creating so many high quality, weathered, middle-aged male characters, and all of them work well beyond the fantasy/horror settings of the promo renders. In addition to using the M4 characters 'as nature intended them" I also use the various character skins on both G1 and G2 characters. I don't transfer the morphs over, but dial in some new morphs myself to get even more milage out of the raw material. And, of course, Stan is essential for anyone interested in the Creepy Clowns genre. :)
I transfered Toerag to G2M using GenX2 without any problems at all
I haven't had a problem transferring MV's Michael 4 characters via GenX2. It obviously won't look 100% like the original, but it's close. I still use Michael 4 though, so MV's characters still look their best on the original model.
And wow, that looks really good!

I feel so like a newbie seriously, I haven't worked out yet how to get M4 morphs (my characters) onto Genesis2M I purchased loads of packs, but am missing something I think lol
I played with G2M the other day, textured him and morphing but he's lacking something,so we've decided to do custom morphs for him :) may take awhile as we are new to DS ourselves but we'll get there, I wondered if you can mix and match morphs on G2M ie M4 and Genesis morphs if so think about the wonderful combinations you could create :)
And THANKYOU all of you for the kind words,it really does mean so much to us,and even though we can't offer DS help YET, we will try where possible, so Thankyou for sticking with us both
YOU ALL ROCK !
xx
Hiya Tracey :) Dimension3D put out GenX to get all those fab morphs over to Genesis from M4/V4. There's an add on to get them over to G2M/F and we're waiting for the G3 add on to be ready.
D3D shop: http://www.daz3d.com/dimension3d#index=0
GenX2 (main program): http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2
G2 add-on: http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2
There are also add-ons to get Gen3 figures transferred if you need them. :)
Hope that helps.
I can't wait until you start putting out G3M/F characters!
now does someone knows what the genx2 update did to the program ?
I think it was preperations to get Genesis 3 included... I guess there will be another addon sometime soon.
Thanks for the shoutout! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. :) I'm glad you think I did good job as I had a lot of fun trying to figure Daemones out in the conversion process. One of my favorite characters which he was one of my first conversions from your store. I got destracted doing some product testing, but I'll be uploading some more MortemVetus characters to my thread soon along with any special steps I had to take for a smooth transition. So far, Daemones was the most complicated.
Custom MortemVetus morphs for G2M sounds like a great idea and I'd love to see that! I'm definitely one of those anxiously waiting for your first G2M character to hit the store!
I believe, from my research, that there is a way to save out single morphs and put them on a dial for use on G2M so, theoretically, I think, one could combine morphs from both M4 and Genesis that have been converted to G2M. I would have to look into that some more and get back to you on that one. Most of what I've been converting have been entire characters, but, if my memory is correct, it should be possible. Someone else might be able to give you a more definitive answer to that before I get a chance to go back in GenX as I won't be able to anything until I'm done with the product tests I'm doing. I've got my DS fairly tied up in back to back renders for the next week at least.
I haven't updated, yet, but I think it had to do with Connect issues which I don't use yet. I'm still just using DIM with DS 4.9.
Probably something to do with DAZ Connect as well. Teach the plugin to look in those folders as well.

Hello boils and ghouls :)
Over the weekend I've been creating my first Genesis/DS items for G2M and M6, Custom base not from a resource, and playing with morphs that are there for him to see how far I can take him before we decide to do custom morphs, and so far this is what we got,he hasn't any Disp or Bump yet and we haven't done any settings as yet for Iray specifically..So this is very Raw ok, be kind lol
We're going for a kind of Old Bruiser, not sure how to describe him, watched loads of things on the East End gangs ie Kray twins lately and the documentary had these Old Timers that were around with the twins and I loved the character in there faces, they told many tales each line and scar,so yes this is how he started out :)
I have to say between Second Circle and Colm jacksons products/Freebies for DS I wouldn't of got these images, I sat for hooours and just couldn't get a clear render in DS,but as I'm fudging my way through DS at the moment that's not surprising but they came to my rescue,so huge Thanks to those two kind chappies :)
Anyway let me know If you think I'm on the right track for a old timer character on G2M, he will be getting quite a few other head options aswell,we thought proper broken nose wounds/morph with broken skin, bruised and black eye morph and skin, bloody nose/nostril,split lip morph/skin,bloody knuckles that sort of thing, and IslandGirl has said maybe doing some Gentlemans sport Pugilistic poses for him YAY,we did say doing an old school boxing outfit for him too,the long shorts, the softer used boxing gloves and boots, and long vest as they wore in the old black and white photos, funnily we don't like boxing but there was any air of respect in the old days in the sport and we think it could be interesting creating these items,we have a DSer on board who will be creating magic with us,wont name them as yet but will in due time hehe ! :D
So either Yay or Nay kiddies, am I going about this all ok so far ?
Huge hugs to you all and Thankyou for all your imput, you all rock and are helping push us on further :)

First, I think you are drastically underestimating your skills where DS is concerned! I'm not sure what Kray twins is, but I think I get the East Ends reference enough to know what you were going for and I think you managed to achieve it. Even without the Disp or Bump, he looks fantastic! His face shows a lot of the character that I've come to expect from your characters and I'm happy that he is going to be native to G2M! A broken nose option would be very cool. I imagine once you get him sorted out specifically for Iray (please, yes!) that he will be an extremely handsome, older, rougher type of character who will look awesome!
I love the skin and the scars and those eyebrows! And, his eyes, with moisture and reflection, is certainly better than anything I've managed to get in a render yet. Keep up the good work because I would be very excited to see him in my library in the near future! Already drooling and wondering how to get on the short list for testing! Just kidding. I imagine you already have reliable testers from the past products. He does look way cool, though.
Looks great to me. SO pleased to hear that you are begining to work with the Genesis series.
Knittingmommy - Kray twins were a pair of gansters (actual twins) who ran the organised crime in a big chunk of the East End of London in the 1950s/60s. They were a pretty brutal pair. There have been several films made about them (most recently "Legend" with Tom Hardy of Mad Max fame as the twins).
MortemVetus - I think that guy is looking pretty good, quite a different look to existing G2M characters.
Holy wow....
I am in the same DS confusion as you, just started in March after many years of Poser (which I still use concurrently.) The character looks amazing, especially his eyes! I think they are some of the best eyes I've ever seen! And I love the scraggly eyebrows too!
i would like to see more such faces
how does the whole body look ?
You're "Old Bruiser" looks outstanding, Tracey! Personally, some of the older M4/V4 stuff looks better to me than some of the newer PBR, and I have the same feeling about this latest creation of yours. I render the analysis passes for my NPR with 3DL, so PBR materials and render engines aren't really as important to me as they are to others these days. I've purchased much of your & Andrew's catalog already and am looking forward anything new you guys create!
