How to make L.I.E. content?

Hi everyone, I hope this is the correct forum for this question. I am a comic book/pinup artist and recently I've started using Daz Studio to help me with difficult scenes or backgrounds. One thing that I would love to do is create content... I'm very interested in creating texture sets that will utilize the L.I.E. but I'm having a devil of a time figuring out the nuts and bolts of creating the content for use in Daz.

I can do all the image editing work, no problem. My issue is formatting the content in such a way as to be able to get into Daz, and then make use of L.I.E.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Are there tutorials available on how to package content so that it works with the L.I.E. in Daz STudio 4?

I've searched, but I'm coming up snake eyes!

So you have the images you want to layer and their masks, correctly set to fit the UVs of the figure, but you need instructions on loading into LIE?

Exactly! I've got the everything up to the point of essentially saving the image files in such a way that I apply them to a character.
I know how to add a layer into an *existing* LIE image (So I can modify existing LIE resources) but I would like to figure out how to create my own LIE doc.
I hope that makes some kind of sense?

Have you tried -save as- layered image editor preset- then a pop up should come up showing which surfaces you have applied LIE images to. Tick which ones you want to save.  Once saved you should then be able to apply the preset to your characters. You'll probably also want to put your LIE images in a runtime-textures-product name folder (especially if you want to share the LIE presets)

Its really pretty simple... unless I am misunderstanding.

On the dropdown where you would add/change a texture there is an option for Layered Image Editor.  Open that... do your thing, close it.

Then as Redz said, Save as Layered Image Editor Preset.

Either that or I am completely not understanding the question.

Possibly a stupid question, what is the advantage of a LIE preset over say a png file applied to the surface using LIE?

I would assime the LIE preset lets you save any location/scaling adjustements that may happen on the real character in a render session, rather than a more hit/miss estimation on a texture in a traditional image editing program. I assume the user would start in LIE with an alpha-d png like you mentioned though. They might want to tweak and save it from DS where they can see it's actual size/location...

(hardly a stupid question, I think)
