I use Daz Studio 4.8 Iradium and pwSurface 2 has always worked/recomplied in it.

Now it doesn't recomplie and renders flat/void. This did not hapoen until I decided to download and install 3Delight Studio Pro.

I just wated to see what its like to use RIB renders, but when I found out it looks the same from a forum upon further reading and that its text/binary based loading-

-I unstalled 3Delight Studio Pro with its unnistaller and now all of a sudden Daz Studio 4.8 3Delight won't render with any of my pwSurface 2 applied shaders.

Not even reinstalling the shaders helped...

Please, there must be a fix to this. I created a very good looking hair shader with it that I use all the time and some of my characters still use pwSurface 2...

Ah, so you are using RIB not direct render. Sorry, I missed that. It is working for me in 4.9.2.70 using the plain 3Delight render; I don't have a stand-alone 3Delight to test that.

I just tried it with 4.8 and it seems to be working okay. My version of 3Delight Pro is a little older, downloaded a few months back. I re-downloaded the pwSurface2 files and installed them just now.

I would have been surprised if the 3DL Pro installation would have touched the D|S files, so I wonder if it's just a coincidence?

Just a thought: When you reinstalled the pw files, did you do both the shaders as well as the program files that go into the D|S executable folder? Anyway, because pwSurface2 is now a Daz-owned product, if all else fails, you can always open a support ticket with them.

I just reinstalled the 3Delight Studio Pro and did what I did before and dropped the shaders where they belong again like last time.

I think putting back the unneeded 3Delight standalone must of fixed it. Even when I hit render in Daz Studio 4,8 for the 1st test run, my Avast Antivirus had to scan a file present in the stand alone 3Delight. Which is wierd...

Wierd stuff everywhere... Why would the standalone mess with how the Daz Studio version operates?

That's what I'm thinking -- the standalone version shouldn't touch any D|S files. It is odd that Avast is kicking in for a 3DL file, but my Avast does odd things, too. One I hate is that, for no apparent reason, it decides to take a long time looking at a Word document I'm working on. Whenever I do that, it locks the file against saving! I have to resave the file under a new name. (Same thing occasionally happens with HTML files I'm working on in the Atom editor.)

The only thing I can think of is that at one point the stand alone 3DL recompiled the sdl file for pwSurface.  Normally, it shouldn't do that, only recompile the temporary copy  in th temp folder (or in the RIB folder).

The funny thing about the automatic recompile is that you can go UP in versions, but not down.
