Adding my own photos

Is there a way to add my own photos for my scenes?

Yep! Go to Environment, choose backdrop, click on the little square, browse, and manually load your photo.
  • I do not see any little square, nor do I see an option to load anything manualy.

I have often done the similar thing, but instead of using the environment I add it to a primitive. This picture shows a wallpaper texture added to a plane and an oil painting picture added to a picture frame object that I think I found from sharecg

I also use the same method as I_stowe. When I do it, I want the picture to be to decorate my wall for instance(there are some great frames for sale in the store for a more professional look). The Environment method will dispaly the picture as the entire backdrop of a scene which can have a cool effect too but may not be what you're looking for.

Go to Create>New Primative> when the window comes up, select Plane. It loads flat agianst the floor so if you have carpet or something down it will cover it. That's when I go to Scene Tab, look at the bottom of the list and you'll see it "plane" then select it, got to Parameters, flip it 90.0 using the X Axis and from there you can play with the parameters for the right height and width for what you need. Then with the plane still selected, go to the Surfaces Tab>Editor. It may have a drop down arrow that will show you General-Diffuse-Ambient and all of that. Just search through that list until you find DIFFUSE. You'll see a little bar that says "Diffuse Color" and it will be white. Click on what looks like the down arrow to the left of the White 0's. This will bring up a big gray window/list. Look at the upper left and look for the word BROSWE. Then you just go to where you have the picture saved on your computer, select it and viola!! It will pop up on your Plane. From there you just play with it till you're happy. Hope this helped. :)

  • Cool, thanks everyone.  Now I just need to make the photo not so blurry!
