With the World of Warcraft movie coming out, I decided to update my Ogora character with Iray shaders.
It might take them a few days to get tested and get added to the installer, but they are coming as a free update to anyone who has the set.
...and if you don't have the set...keep your eyes open this weekend....there may be some fun fantasy sales coming :)

Fantastic. Looking forward to the update. Thanks.
Nice! Look forward to that.
And as a boost, here are two images I did (cross-gender with GenX2):

(Iray and 3DL render, respectively)
Smart move!
Oh, looking forward to that! I'll have to make sure to test him out when they get downloaded. Thanks for the heads up!
Can't stand the Alliance . . . for the Horde!

That's a good one, Greg! I, actually, backed away from the computer there for a second! :)
COOL!!!
Thanks, Knittingmommy. I fully expect (hope) to see you post a render here, too, when you can. About the pose . . . one thing I've discovered that helps me achieve some dynamic comic-like perspectives is to cheat a little by increasing the size of whatever is in the foreground (his hand) to exaggerrate the perspective. You can do something similar by using a wide angle camera parked up close, but sometimes I find this approach looks better.
Funny how sometimes the simplest things you throw together look the best, eh? Start to finish, this one only took about an hour, with most of the time spent away from the computer. Saw Rawn's post, loaded up Ogora, took 10 min to pose him, another 10 minutes to run the scripts to render the analysis passes, and 40 minutes for the NPR processing. I ran out to grab lunch at Cactus Jack's and by the time I got back, he was painted - woot! Seriously though, all the credit goes to Rawn's character design . . . absolutely awesome!

Glad you like it, Rawn - and thank you for another kick-ass character!

We'll see how it goes. I'm sure I can manage to upload something once I get the updates. :)
Well, it certainly had an impact! Very nicely done!
Wow..that was quick :)

Wow! and there are things on my wishlist in that sale, too! :)
I got it and a fe wother items.
We will see how it works in Carrara, Maybe update the Shaders to Carrara shaders.
hah...sorry I am not familiar enough with Carara for that
Thanks Rawn! Was just working on a render with the orc and saw the textures needed some work in Iray, much appreciated!
Sorry for the confusion,
Normally the 3dl shaders work ok in Carrara but if I update the correct 3dl shader components to the corresponding Carrara ones then it will look even better.
You have definitely hit the sweet spot on postwork process.
Thanks, FirstBastion. I wish you all could see how it looks in print! I've got an Epson r1800 and I made a 6" x 6" print of Ogora this morning. The NPR output was 4320x4320, so it worked out to about 600dpi - really popped on photo luster paper and looks even more 3D.
Anybody seen the movie yet?
- Greg
I tried but the server's busy.
Tried what? Is the update out yet?
I just saw it in DIM - downloading now. Thank you, RawArt!
FSMC: I was making a joke about a Warcraft movie having a server queue...
Weird...they usually email me to let me know it has been updated.
But yeah...it does look like it is in DIM now...cool

And in the spirit of what I got out of Warcraft games...
(Only postwork to resize and adjust tone a little)
Probably is somewhere which is really sad and distugusting IMO. I plan on seeing it this weekend!
Thanks again for the update Rawn!!!
Well, I finally managed to get the update installed. All I can say is Wow! The Iray shaders look amazing. It took me all day fiddling around in DS, but I have a decent render going that is amazing even me that I managed to put it together. Unfortunately, it's going to take my computer at least another day maybe two, before it finishes. I'm using the red skin which I happen to like a lot! So, thanks for the updates! They look great out of the box. I didn't have to do any adjustments to the skin whatsoever! Nice job, @RawArt!
Glad you guys are enjoying the updates.
It took longer than I expected to make them look how I wanted, but since this is one of my favorite older characters, I wanted to make sure it was done real well.

Wanted to drop in and share another render of Ogora - this time a proper Iray render using the new mats, rather than an NPR painting. Similar pose as the last one, except this time Ogora is wielding one of strangefate's new weapons:
This is the first real time I've spent playing with Iray since it was first introduced, and it's been great! Really impressed with the results. Thanks for the update, Rawn - the mats look sweet!
