That is why  there would need to be a Hierarchy. to the team.   If a person wanted to produce a film using daz with a group of people. they would have to approach it as dreamworks and pixar do.  and that would be the big hurdle.    as you said that is why you will find most producer will pay for the labor for each needed team member.    But not always.   I seen some great Indie films done by a teams (mostly students) so it can be done. it just take discipline, there also should be a basic common goal for the project by everyone and each member needs to respect the hierarchy of the  team  in the order they are needed. such as  produce, director and team manager, animators modelers ,etc, down the line.

These are some other hurdles that would need to be addressed too.

    1) The produce will need a director & should be appointed the leader - this person should have everything in writing. including  scripts, story boards, what each team members job is and their purpose in the project  as they would need to put a team of Modelers,  animators, Texture artist. Lighting  specialist., Film editors, sound production editor, . Special effects artist.   software engineers,  and if you plan on making money from your film a marketing or PR person.

    2) unless the producer has set up a main frame server where all members can tie into it and the project can be build in one location  so all the members can work on the film together and use the same assets. the film is dead from the start, because that means it would requires each team members to have all the same daz assets which would be highly unlikely  & all the project files would be dedicated to one persons computer.. so the  production /producer  would need a main server that allowed all members access to the same 3d assets needed to produce the film. ( A Cloud server comes to mind for solving this issue)

    3) All the team members would need away to communicate in real time to collaborate  with each other.with something like gotooffice, or LiveOffice so the team members will all need at least 2 monitors to work off.

And like you said  there are some quirky issues of copyright and ownership that would need to be addressed and all agreed on as well before the project could take off.

which pretty much explains why it would be very difficult to have a team of people work on a Daz Studio Animations.

I can speak from experience,  the draw back as a individual creating animations is sometimes you miss the little things that could make or break a film.  where as extra people would bring more to the table in that aspect.    & lastly, in all honestly,  I have spent thousands of dollars on 3d &  other assets for my animated films & put in hundreds of hours making them.  But I have never made a cent from my Daz animations. so its truly a labor of love when making animations using daz studio.

My primary interest in using daz studio is for animation,  I have over 65 animated stories (Ivy's Animated films ) using daz studio and poser.. It has always been my belief that if a group of people could get to together that all owned the same assets, & knew how to use daz in animation with out me having to teach them first.  could build or create a very decent Pixar quality animation . my biggest issue I have found try to put a team to together is that most Daz users don't all own the same assets that would be needed to share in projects and the DAZ TOS does not allow of sharing of those assets , nor does the game developers license covers of sharing of assets for film projects. . so that  rather limits  what teams of film makers can put together for large animation projects as  a team.  that has been the biggest hurdle to overcome for teams or groups to collaborate on animated projects,  that and not all users have the equipment powerful enough to render large films too.; )

All my films like these I have done myself

Below are a couple of test renders from my new street  animation Ive been working on for the 8 weeks  and i have so far 102 scenes rendered out of 209 scenes i have planned using my story boards as my guide. yes I would love to work with a team of people. the chances of that happening because everyone owns the same assets are slime to none .

Love the Karate Girl series, really looking forward to the street animation, looks AWESOME!!

    Thank you very much Ka1
