DAZ Studio 4.9 reverts to Standard mode

Sometimes after I start my PC and open DAZ Studio it reverts to Standard mode and requests the serial number. I have to shut down the computer and restart so that DAZ Studio Pro will open correctly. Why does this happen and how do I prevent it or revert to the Pro version if it's reverted to the standard mode? This doesn't happen often but it's annoying nonetheless.

You aren't running it as admin (right-click menu, not just from a admin account)? What security software are you using?

Thanks Richard I'll try running it as admin. I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security. I don't seem to remember this problem before I installed Kaspersky a few months ago so that could be the problem.

Please do not run Daz Studio as an admin, it was not designed to run as an admin and running it as an admin will break things in very tricky ways.

Never run Daz Studio as admin.

...I've been running 4.8 in that mode for some time (4.6 and 4.7 before it) and have no issues.

Are you sure? We mean right-click and select Run as Administrator, not just run from an account with administrator rights (which is fine).

I stopped running it as admin due to problems starting DS. I haven't had the problem with DAZ Studio Standard opening again so far. I really don't understand why it happens sometimes when I start my PC. Maybe it's the AV. It seems that DS can't find or read the serial and registration info on these occassions. I wonder what could prevent that? I've not had this problem with any other application. I'm using Windows 8.1 and noticed that when this problem occurs a homegroup icon appears on my desktop which is not there normally.

I have the same problem, but only when I'm offline. It starts up normally then asks to log in. If I choose "work offline" it asks for a serial number. When that part is skipped, it goes to standard mode. When I'm connected to the internet, it works fine. Is this an error in the offline mode itself? Should I try the serial number offline and see if it works?
