    Okay my impressions:

Like the face, finally a freckled redhead! : ) Seems like we were right about the Boudicca/Celtic warrior thing.

The body, not bad but I prefer Gia's.

Her make up options seem to be purely battle ready and that does not make the character very versatile.

Overall impression: Gia did it better and since I already have Gia, I'm going to pass on this one but I am very curious about Ivan! : )

I like this new figure; I'll be picking her up when I get home from work. I don't understand why people keep bringing up Boudicca when commenting on the freckles and red hair; according to Roman accounds, Boudicca had a dark complexion and hair.

I purchased the pro set; I'm not great at noticing the nuances of the many pale Genesis 3's so that part wasn't too exciting but the armors are fun.  I attach this image which I call Becky with the good hair:

nice couple you know you may have what Ivan may look like pretty close going by how Rune looks your guy looks just right for her

Can anyone upload some comparison picks of Gia and Rune? Rune looks thinner than Gia to me.

Looks like Ivan is going to be our barbarian themed male. Who wants to bet on how many skirts he's going to end with in his bundle?

Boudicca is almost always portrayed as a redhead in movies and games so that's why most people think of a redhead when they hear Boudicca I think : D

For me, when one says Boudicca I imagine the one from Civilization 5 : ) So also a redhead.

Hmm, I thought Gia was too skinny and Rune looks better.

I believe Cassius Dio describes her as tall, with tawny hair hanging down to below her waist, a harsh voice and a piercing glare.

Great. Another 5' 11" woman. Because we don't have enough of those.

You know, half the shoes in the store are high heels. Put any of these giantesses in a pair of heels and they end up looming over every male character in the scene. That is not a look I need very frequently.

Sure, I can work around it, but is there any special reason why every female has to be as tall as Michael?

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,704

I like the base. I really have no use for tribal/barbarian/clan of the cavebear makeup or fantasy garb. The base female figure though seems more realisitc than Karen or Gia, which I like. Disappointed in yet more warrior/barbarian clothing. I can never use any of that and to have a whole bundle of fantasy clothing does nothing for me. Hairs don't look very good to me... So will probably buy the base figure at some point.

Hmmm... Cassius Dio was born app. 100 years after Boudicca's uprising. But tawny or not - I could imagine that she didn't look and behave like a Barbie doll.

So Rune 7 is the new 'Boudicca' character. I like her much more than Gia. Her strong, interesting face (no pouting lips!), the nice shape of the eyes, the freckles and those fine lines around her mouth corners make her really attractive. The body is powerful, but not too muscular. Rune 7 looks like another great Daz personality.

I think it's fine for Rune considering her character, but in general I agree. My opinion is that it's to do with the Genesis female base. G1 seems to be roughly based on V4 supermodel who was really tall compared to V4 (just not a supermodel) Each Genesis model got slightly taller from there, and then every Victoria has done the even taller than the base Supermodel (not a supermodel) thing, and most of the other female figures copy her. It's so ridiculous. What's the point of making all this realistic dimension housing and furniture etc. when all the characters are oversized?

    * Actually not sure on the V4 thing but I thought there was a taller version, don't have her installed atm to check and can't be bothered doing so,

first glitch the capsces poses rune 7 don't appear in smart content to use for her unless you uncheck the filter by content you'd think it would appear since it is made for her and g3f

As a noted historian, he worked from refernces and other's reports, as most historians do. We're born almost two thousand years after her uprising and we're discussing her hair colour and skin tones today, using, like Cassio Dio, someone else's reports. wink

Riftwitch didn't understand why people were referring to red hair when, "according to Roman accounds, Boudicca had a dark complexion and hair". I was merely pointing out a roman historical refrence that mentioned "tawny" hair.

I actually like tall women. I'd like a taller one actually...Fortunately there is a height slider to make your DAZ figures any height you really want.

Oh yes – I think we should really be more interested in the Boudicca uprising and its reasons than in the Iceni queen's hair colour and complexion. wink Her war against the Romans must have been very bloody and cruel, but the Empire had given her more than only one good reason to be extremely upset. Who knows what we would have done in her situation?

http://www.daz3d.com/z-warrior-expressions-for-rune-7 Okay nevermind skin is properly pink for a northerner (that's what I'm assuming she is unless we can't use the word north anymore) it's just Daz promos up to their old tricks. This is the root of many "spray white on"  tan girl complaints >.>

    - 5'11 seems like a reasonable height for her.
    - I really like the variety and practical usability of the Capces Poses.
    - I'm kind of curious about putting Defender Poses in a bundle when they a. require an item not even in the bundle and b. have specific adjustments for a bunch of other characters that aren't her.
    - Chevaleresse Armor is really eye catching and impressive.

Looks like some at DAZ and the PAs have been watching "Vikings" on The History Channel. Some of the promo pics bear a likeness to its star Katheryn Winnick who plays Lagertha.

After what she did to that guy on the post (and to her husband on her second wedding day), I'm not sure whether I'm scared or turned-on ;)

    Awesome show!

One of the ironies mentioned on her wiki page, is that there is a huge statue of Boudicca riding a chariot in London, as if she is some sort of protector of the capital. The reality however, was that she burned London to the ground and slaughtered every inhabitant within it!

Guys, do you think the guy in these promos could be Ivan? http://www.daz3d.com/male-hair-for-genesis-3-males

I don't think I've seen this one anywhere before.

If that is indeed Ivan then he looks really bland and almost like Michael 7 with a more narrow face.

Like you, my guess is that the figure in the promo is M7, possibly altered slightly with some morphs.

That's definitely not Ivan.  Ivan looks (IMO) Waaaay cooler.  A much "burlier" and grittier character.

Okay I give up I have no idea why quotes are breaking but I can't seem to fix it.

Yeah from the way you talked about Ivan and Lucian being surprises I thought there was no way that could be him. The back of the head does have a very M7 feeling to me but I don't have any real reasoning behind that.

Ok, lx, I think I fixed it.  I have to use source to do it to see where the blockquote tags are. :)

  • For the Chevaleresse Armor, the bib on the front throws me off.  It's too short to act as a loincloth, and looks like the breastplate's sticking its tongue out at you.  I like the rest though - might get it and just replace the torso with another armor.

Is this getting fixed soon and is it 20% off all DAZ Originals or is there a link to a certain page of them?

I'm getting a bit of a "Red Sonja" vibe from Rune. Does this mean that Ivan is going to be Conan Ivan the Barbarian?

Maybe it's time to remake my old, old Conan the Librarian image ...

    ...and fixed yours.  :)

On topic though: Rune 7's wardrobe looks *really* nice. There's the typical cheesecake sets, but wow the "real" armor sets look amazing.

Arabella is shorter than the others, I think. :-)  I love Arabella, my favorite base so far, other than V7.  But weird thing is, she seems almost petite when she's in a scene.  My perspective must change when I work with these 3D people. :-)
