What's a shame is that there could be so many different reasons for that, or indirect sales because of their existence, or different offers at the time, and all sorts of other things.

Sound like to me the prices upon release are too high. Folks know it's gonna go on sale sooner or later and they wishlist it and wait.

I mean most of us are hobbyists and while PAs work very hard and create very nice items, it's really not feasible for me or many others to be able to afford to buy bundles at full price. But then I'm not using them commercially so also not using all of the licence rights that the product gives, so I don't make the portion back that a commercial artist would.

I guess what that suggests then is that either (most of) the female bundles have enough fans desperate enough to pick them up at full price, or that they simply outsell the male ones so significantly at both price points that they reach the "worth it" point to the creators.

The problem then goes back to that if you only make the best selling stuff (skimpy bikini Victoria and her sexy poses in their 19,000,000 varieties) the market is going to become very dull very fast and not attract any sort of varied tastes at all. Male teens might not sell well enough for a bunch of bundles, but having no official one available at all is very awkward (not to mention the absolute lack of a modern baby, toddlers, etc.)

Bundles for other characters are at the same price, though, so there has to be a difference in sales numbers if those don't sell "enough" while others do.

When Jayden 6 was released, his pro pack had some 15 items (4 more than the 11 included in recent pro packs). These 15 items were not created by DAZ, but PAs, whom DAZ then had to pay to include them in the pro pack. I have no idea how much DAZ pay for each, but I am sure it was a reasonable sum. If we guessed at $1000 each (I may be way off here) that would be 15,000 DAZ would need to get back in sales to feel they had made a good investment. You would need a fair number buying at the standard release price of 51% off $125 (this was the price for a pro pack back then), or just over $60. Later sales, when the discount is 50% or 60% instead of 30%, pull in around half those initial sales in profit.

If you click on Top Sellers 2014, unclick "Items I own", then sort by popularity, Jayden and Brodie are close to the bottom, after all the other pro packs featured in 2014.

A different story for Teen Females, Belle 6 pro, is 4th on the list, and the second most popular pro bundle after Aiko 6. Naturally the male equivalent Brodie could not compete with Belle on an equal footing, as he only had a "bundle" rather than a pro bundle.

So I'm curious... Brodie and Jayden apparently sold so badly that they aren't being considered ever again, yet they're both in the top sellers brackets for their relevant year right now? There are 50 items on the list for 2014, so how badly must they have sold to be considered bad yet still in the top 50 of a site that releases hundreds and hundreds of products every year? Josie is in 2014 whereas her pro bundle is in 2013 so clearly it's based on some sort of automated list which means they sold well enough to make that list.

I have the same question frown

Pretty simple. It may have sold that well that week or month, however it didn't have enough sales to warrant  an update for the new generation .

But these aren't the top sellers for a week or a month, these are the top sellers for that year. How can they be in the top 50 out of all products offered that year without having enough sales to justify an update? They must be at least in the top 10% if not the top5.

Whatever the criteria is, the takeaway still is that there still aren't enough sales to justify Jayden or Brodie for Genesis 3. So I wouldn't put too much effort into dissecting this topic.

Look at it this way: In the past, if a figure is coming DAZ has never made mention of it until the figure released. Here, they have explicitly said that they aren't coming...

    So they aren't coming.

Even better, DAZ_Steve popped in to say the exact thing: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1240391/#Comment_1240391

Actually, Steve said, "there are no plans for now", he did not rule them out for the future, though I agree their appearence is improbable. Of course, if Brodie represented a younger teen, or even a tween (facially he looks 12-13, even if he has the height of an older youth), then if there is a male tween, as we have been told there will be, then effectively there is a new Brodie, even if his name is different.

Actually, discussion of nonexistent male figures has led to mention of 5 upcoming figures by Daz (and thanks to that there are figures I'm now specifically saving to buy on release.)

Since we were told that Jayden and Brodie weren't coming, no one has been asking for them to be so much as asking for some sort of official male teen and other things (baby, toddlers mentioned a few times) as well as discussing thoughts on that choice.

No, the statement linked did not say no plans for now. It said that the figures did not justify the investment, so as I said they aren't coming. He did say that there may be a tween coming so that is a new figure, but certainly not Brodie.

    DAZ_Steves exact words were:

"There is not a "Teen" MAle planned this year... But there is a "Tween" male ;)"

Which to me anyway, does not explictly rule out a teen male in the future (albeit it is highly likely not to be), and seems to imply pretty strongly that a tween male will arrive, not may arrive. Naturally we can all read different things into what others have said, only DAZ know for certain. Clearly there will be no Brodie 7, but if Justin (or whatever his name will be) is done by Thorne, I would imagine the new tween male will still have a strong resemblence to Brodie.

The link I posted in gave a reason why a product may be a top seller, but not considered for a update. Did you read the link? It said nothing about a tween planned. That is a seperate link.
