Daz has a lot of hairstyles, and so does my library, but I'm finding that of all the hairstyles I have, I tend to use some more a lot more than others, and a few have become my "go to" hairstyles when testing new models. Also looking at the promos some styles continually show up as well.
For my money the Chace Hairstyle by AprilYSH looks good on everybody. I also use the Sunny Tails and Edwardian Hair a lot.
The one hairstyle I wish they would update for Genesis 2 and 3 figures is the Petite Fleur by GoldTassel, which is really lovely, but hard as can be to try and fit to later genesis figures.

I find any hair can be used on G3F easily without autofitting. Just load, positon the skullcap, apply a smoothing modifier to collide with the genesis figure and then parent it to the head.
The hairs I use often on G3F are ones from mankahoo.com, ugly hair from OOT at rendo, Lua updo and Apollonia from 3Dream at Rendo, Eternal Kyra from Fabiana at Rendo, and Wild Hair from digitalcamerillo
I also love Petite Fleur as well, here it is on G3F

I've picked up over 500 hair items from DAZ alone, and I try to switch them up. That said, if I'm just experimenting or testing out ideas, I'll tend to use a short hairstyle that doesn't cover the neckline or eyes just so I don't have to worry about it. I like Jaycee's hair from the Jaycee pack a lot, Paxton hair is another big fav, as are Cat's Meow with the ears removed, Force hair, Chase hair, Baroness hair, Taylor tair... now that I look at them, I definitely have a weakness for 80's-ish dos on the girls. For men there's a bit less choice, but Timeless Male, Flat top, K-Nicky, Guillaume, Joey and Ducky are old stalwarts, while Adam hair and Frasier hair are probably the most used of the latest gen .
'Jewell Hair' is one of my favourites and I quite like 'Taia hair for G3F', but there's usually something that will suit when these won't. For the men, I really like 'Real Short Hair'. I've yet to find an African American hair that I'm happy with though.
I cannot choose I'm a 3D hair addict!
If I have to pick an all time favorite I'll go for Radient Jaguar Hair :)
I have a LOT of hair in my runtime... and yet (facepalming), I always seem to go back to this one: http://www.daz3d.com/short-ponytail
However, I do really like http://www.daz3d.com/real-short-hair-for-genesis-2-male-s for guys, http://www.daz3d.com/filippa-hair, http://www.daz3d.com/fashion-hair and http://www.daz3d.com/nightfever-hair. I'm also liking http://www.daz3d.com/ysabeau-hair (a recent render of mine using it: http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/146606).
I really like Omri and Real Short Hair (and freebie), and end up using them probably the most.
I like Sapphire a lot, but it's a bit more specialized (lots of great morphs and the shaders are excellent).
I end up using the Timeless Male Hair for Genesis whenever I need a simple parted hairstyle.
SAV hairs because they are very dense and not weightmapped (they are props) and I can move them where ever I want without the hair jumping all over the place. Loose bun style hairs like Legacie from goldtassel. TBH I would love to have carrara hair in DS.
Me too, I dare not count them to avoid getting a chock, but I'm sure I have over 1000. I avoid the more weird or crazy loooking ones though (those that look more like modern art than hair).
I prefer simple, classic natural hair styles, like this one which I bought yesterday (been looking for exactly this style for a long time actually):

If there is one hair I use more than any other, it's got to be Boris Hair for G2M. I bought it for the beard, but discovered I love the hair. I use it on both sexes, and I've had good results auto-fitting to Genesis 3. Another favorite is Julius Hair.
I also like Julius Hair as well. Basically one of my friends has already done this. Looks so cute and gorgeous.
Greetings,
Once upon a time, I did this: http://encyclo3dia.deviantart.com/art/Hair-G2F-Cypherfox-505493804
It's not even a quarter of the hairs I have, and it's just G2F. I never managed to get V4 hairs to properly fit (seriously, how do you 'fit' prop hairs to a head? I can never tell if they're penetrating the scalp or not...) so there's all of those, also.
I have a soft spot for Wren, and the End of Summer hair. Also, although it's not sold here anymore, one of the best historically was the Sapphire Fox hair. (That's a link to someone else who's used it on a V7.)

Add a smoothing modifier to pop any areas out of the scalp.
I've found that the Gloria Hairstyle is also very versatile, as well as being a style similar to one I've seen many women in everyday life actually wearing.

I like is so much I take pictures of it to the salon when I get my hair cut.. no joke..
Seriously! I have lots of SAV hair - it's great!
I love long, opulent hair for females and males, or, for the latter, short 'Roman' styles like Neftis' 'Ceazarius' or Smay's 'Boris Hair'. AprilYSH, Goldtassle, Lady Littlefox and SAV (in alphabetical order) are my absolute favourites, but of course others have great products, too. 'Christina' by OOT, many styles by 3Dream Mairy, or the Fantasy hairs by Valea, e.g. 'Moonsong' or 'Winter Angel Hair', are among them.
Lucian hair at RDNA is one of my favorites.
Right now I am using a lot of butch short male hairs like Simple Short haircut.
If I use it a lot, then it returns it's value. I find that specialty hairs, although cool, tend to be too distinctive and I don't use them as much as practical shorter styles.
So, I guess I lean towards Simple Short Haircut for men being my current fav.
Yeah, I'm starting to find the short hairstyles are much more versatile, especially if your scenes requrie the subjects to do more than simply pose. Longer hairstyles though I like some of them a lot, require simply too much work when a figure is in non standard positions, and I'm not even at the post-work in other programs phase of my studies.
