daz3d.com multilingual - a first step to expand the market ?

At least I hope it's only the first step - as what Daz needs even more urgent is a translation engine for the Daz Studio program itself.

No matter, going multilingual is the right way if you want to expand the customer base in a limited or specialized market. If you want to grow worldwide and not only in native english speaking markets, you have to make sure the people there understand you and that english isn't a barrier for them. The problem is not with the younger generation, it's with the older ones not being safe with english - and that's where the money sits. Can only speak for Germany, but I doubt that is very different in other countries.

Yes, it's only a very basic, sometimes stupid and sometimes funny, automatic translation made by some computer program, that needs to be improved a lot. Still I hope this is not only a test but the future, e.g.

A good translation might soon pay for itself. And that's not only good for Daz, but any PA as well.

Go Daz !

PS: Or did I only miss that and it has been there for some time already ? Ugh ;)

The (rather poorly, at least for French) localized sites have been there for quite some time, yes. Google tends to direct you to those versions from time to time when you search for things on the DAZ site.

My guess is that's simply an "auto-translate" feature provided by the store software.

Ahh, k, never seen that before. but doesn't change my POV on the need of multilingual website and software if Daz wants to grow the market. At least give us a translation engine for the software that works with external language files and I'm pretty sure there will be some volunteers to deliver translations for free or some gift cards..
