Antique freebie problem, could use some help

JOdelJOdel Posts: 6,316

After a week off I'm back to the content library reorg. I've hit the Costume runtimes. The commercial products haven't given me a lot of grief so far, but I've hit a freebie which I am not sure what I'm supposed to do with it. I collected it some years ago, but I'll admit that I've never used it. I'd have run into the problem much earlier if I had tried to.

It's an outfit for A3 and it's by an artist called Eldrich. It's called something like Renaissance Baroness for Aiko3.  There were a swarm of add-on texture sets from 3rd-parties.

I've got what appear to be the original the files. It includes the .obj files. It also includes a swarm of character morph files for A3 and the texture files for the character. There are no textures for the outfit in the package. Thaose were all add-ons.

There are also no .cr2 files for the outfit. All of the add-ons are .pz2 files.

So how was one supposed to load the outfit onto the character? There are promo renders, so it must be possible. Was this some arcane process that was common before I wandered into this hobby back in 2009? Most of these files date from somewhere areound 2005 or 2006.

What am I missing?

My guess would be that you're actually missing a zip file. Maybe it was split into multiple files for upload; that wouldn't have been unusual back in those days.

From what I can tell from plugging around, the outfit was just called Renaissance for Aiko 3, by a person named Fredrik. The outfit was originally posted to the freepository thread on the old Daz forum that was, which became forumarchive, which died. He had a server -- or maybe just an account on the server -- at eldritch.se, which is still there, but seems to be a restricted forum, I think.

The textures at ShareCG frequently have links to the old freepository thread, but of course, that's not at all helpful now. Tried checking archive.org, but that didn't have any information either, alas.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Hey, JOdel. You may be using the wrong version of the outfit.

For reference, the files that I have for the outfit, character and hair are:

    Renaissance_BaseRuntime_b1.zip

    Renaissance_BaseRuntime_b1.1update.zip

    Renaissance_P5_Runtime_b1.zip

    Renaissance_P5_Runtime_b1.1update.zip

    Renaissance_MorphTargets_b1.zip

    Renaissance_TemplatesHair_b1.zip

    Renaissance_Vest_b1.zip

    SkirtCorset_Aiko3Fit_MorphTargets_b1.zip

The first two are the Poser 4 versions and contain no .cr2 files. The second two are for Poser 5 and contain the .cr2 files, under Runtime/Libraries/Character/ ! Eldritch/Renaissance/. In the DAZ Studio Content Library tab the outfit will appear under Poser Formats - 3D Content - Figures -  ! Eldritch - Renaissance. The Character, if desired, is under Pose, etc. (go figure! :)) And you are correct, there do not appear to have been textures for the clothes included.

BTW, if you do not have any of the above files, you may still find them at:

I am certainly missing some of the files. And splitting the zips probably accounts for it. I've got .objs, but nothing else. It does look like the same outfit.

That link doesn't help. It's forbidden access. Google found the texture sets I have, but not the original item.

    Bummer

That's because the links fall back to the old forum posting...I traced them down.

If you have the obj, you could re-rig the outfit.  Or if you use Poser, make it dynamic...

Sorry, I just copied and pasted the url. I didn't check it afterwards. You will notice that it indicates http://eldritch.se/poser/ (excluding the wildcard * at the end). So, simply copy the entire url including the wildcard from my original post and paste that into your browser. That should take you to a list of various content from eldritch. Clicking on any of them will start the respective download. Find the ones you need and you should be good to go.

Here's a link to the WayBack Machine's Renaissance download page that gives an inventory of all files:

Got it! Thank you! I had the base package and the morph targets but not the P5+ runtime(s).

It was a very nice outfit. I'm not going to hold out a lot of hope for it autofitting well (not with that skirt), but I'll be able to at least make the attempt. And I may be able to get some use out of the sleeves for kitbashing.
