Can’t render the eyes in IRay

On a Mac OS 10 latest everything

I’m trying to render this image in IRay but no matter what I try I can’t seem to light the eyes. (see image) Works fine in 3Delight.

Figure and base morph: V4

Mat: Sisterhood by AeonSoul

Eye Mat is also from th sisterhood package

Costume: Deathbringer. . .  Altho I can’t see where that has any bearing.

Lighting: 2 distant and one spot for the face. (Tried point but it didn’t work either)

Does the figure have Iray mats?  If not, what shader do the 3DL mats use?

Try using the Water Thin Iray preset on the 07_EyeSurface.

The figure is v4 with older mat called sisterhood. . . not sure what you mean by "shader"

Am I going to have this kind of IRay problem with all my old poser v4 stuff?

A shader is what gives you the surface settings.

The shaders are not compatible, between Iray and 3Delight, so they need to either manually be converted or rely on an autoconversion.  The autoconversion works, reasonably well, some of the time...but some times, depending on the base 3Delight shader (for Studio, for Generation 4 stuff, that's usually the Default Surface, but omHumanSurface is possible), things can not go well in the autoconversion.  Manually converting the shaders is generally easy to do (tweaking the results may not be easy).  Simply select the surfaces and apply the Iray Uber Base, found in Shaders/Shader Presets.  Also knowing a bit about a particular surface...like the EyeSurface being the watery film/tears covering the eye should help some...like in that case use a Water preset (Water-Thin, because it is a single layer of polygons, not a 'volume').

Here's a V4 render with the Lana texture that was a simple convert to Iray Uber Base with minor tweaking.

This long thread has lots of very good info on Iray skin settings.
