Seriously, could we get a better search?

Searching for "haven + hair" should give me results where both the words haven and hair are in the article.
NOT EVERY POST WITH THE WORD HAIR and the letters HAVEN...like EVERY SINGLE POST WITH THE WORD HAVEN'T IN IT!!!!

A better search would be very useful.
I've asked for this several times, and all I ever get is "just use google's site search."
That doesn't solve the problem this site has, though. It looks bad. It looks very bad. You want ME to invest in cutting edge software from Daz, when your site is about as cutting edge as 2008? (And that's being generous.) Its not just about fixing the search, its about perception of Daz itself. A new person coming here, doesn't know the google feature, would just leave after being frustrated. Frustration = lost sales. User friendly = sales. Its not rocket science. Its common sense = dollars and cents. You wanna take this thing to the next level, or just be a niche product nobody's ever heard of? I'm not being harsh to just talk smack, I want to see Daz succeed. Success starts at every level. The software might be "Pro," but the forum is amateur.
I prefer the previous version too if there was a specific topic you was looking for you could easily find it now if any of the words appear in a sentence or even if it's part of another word search shows all that except what your looking for googling doesn't help that much and shouldn't have to go somewhere else anyway to find a topic
The search has been bad for some while. The store needs to have some sort of tagging so for example, a person could find all items related to police, or items related to dogs or cats.
Agreed.
YES! I'm very frustrated by the lame search engine here.
they are just not able to make it better otherwise they would i think
There also needs to be a "exclude items with these words" type function. Is there a function like this? Like if I do a search for hair, I want to be able to exclude the word "textures". I don't want to wade through a TON of hair textures/recoloring when looking for new hair to buy. I just want to see the full product, just the hair. Same with outfits. I want to see a list of outfits, not outfits and every friggin texture product too. lol Is there a way to do that? Search for items and exclude certain words from showing up in the search?
That's a big problem...there's two awful search engines here...the stores and the forums.
There's the nice filter in the store for character...but not for if you want to see all Daz Original, non PC Club, prop sets.
And the forum problems ...well all been mentoned here.
yeah...it'd be really great if daz had...
- good site search.
- good wishlist and shopping cart management.
i feel like there's something downright mysterious about the absence thereof in this day and age. the competition manages to deliver both, and daz seems like a much more professional outfit in many ways. does this under-the-hood stuff just get deprioritized because the constant flow of new releases is so time- and resource-intensive?
or do the folks at the top just not realize how much time their customers actually spend searching for items onsite/instore? that's kind of hard to believe. like, impossible...
i can't speak for anybody else, but i'm guessing my site habits aren't that unusual. i spend a lot of time in searchland. it only takes a couple of minutes to check out the new items of the day. but trying to find the cool hair or spear or vintage iron stove i just spotted in someone's promo render or someone's gallery image can take days. (and, when and if i finally give up, help from kind souls in the forums. :) )
and the thing is, if i'm trying that hard to find something, i'm usually trying to find it so i can buy it. if not today, then next week or next month...
have to keep things in perspective though. in the news today: "The Real Reason America Controls Its Nukes With Ancient Floppy Disks..."
*eight-inch* floppies...yikes...

The wishlist seems to work pretty well...what's the problem there?
it's mostly the interaction between the wishlist and the cart that i wish were improved, but batch processing as a feature in both would be really nice--click a checkbox to select multiple items on a page, and then process them however.
the ability to save multiple wishlists--a la amazon.com and myfonts.com and other places--would be helpful, too. sometimes i wishlist items that i know i'm probably not going to be able to afford to pick up until March Madness or some other superevent rolls around, because they're pretty pricey, and they're the work of PAs who don't seem to be producing new releases anymore, and flash sales and fastgrabs and daily or weekly backlist sales generally feature artists who have a new product releasing currently. so my wishlist in full runs to six pages--but about half of those items aren't things i need to be scrolling through a couple times a week.
sometimes i also wish i could make a wishlists for individual projects i know i want to work on--i'm just not sure when. most of my projects are like that. so i might wind up planning on kit-bashing major components of three different location sets to produce the foreground and background for one scene. and that's not even getting into small props, clothes, hair, etc...so it'd be cool to manage all that from one checklist. it'd help a lot with budget planning (hence scheduling) for the scene, as well.
hope that makes sense...i don't, always...

Users have been asking since they changed the forums, occasionally I see a response to the effect Daz3D is working on it, but evidence to that statement is clearly not apparent. In addition functionality to the bug tracking system where it was collaborative resource for both developers and users looking for answers or other users having identical issues was taken away. When we asked if it could be returned Daz3D answered "possibly some time in the future", several years have passed, nothing has changed, it's a black hole where you type and the best response they can offer is "does it work with the new version" - if they read their own knowledgebase it would be apparent these reported issues were overwhelmingly ignored by their own volition .
[my $0.02] If someone over there actually gave a thought to their user base and the people who buy and support their products I think we would have a more effective set web based resources at our disposal, but we dont. [/my $0.02]
Not true. You can find Daz Originals under the ARTIST filter and it's always the top of the list. For props, you can just navigate the site to Places &Things > Props.
I kinda wish (impractical as it might be to implement) that when artist sales happen, the artist store's icon could show "You have a wishilist item in this store". Ah well.
that'd be great...
an email alert when a wishlisted item goes on sale'd run a close second.
Off-shooting a little from the theme if the topic, but did you ever find an answer to 'haven + hair'? I assume you're searching for the hair worn by Haven for Girl 7 in the promos. I wouldn't mind knowing that too, if the answer is out there.
...yeah it seems each time there is a software "upgrade/update" the search function becomes more useless. I remember when you could search not only by keyword, but by date range, subject, individual post or thread, and/or author. That was when the forums were still on the old PHP engine they used to use prior to the switch to Magento back in 2012.
The forum software is separate from the store software, but I agree the search in both could use improvement.
You forgot the "NOT PC Club" part.
I went looking for a thread on search tricks...and found this thread again.
Like, right now, I'd love to be able to search for only New Items, sorted by price.
..we so much need a better search engine.
I remember on one thread there was mention of a new Skin Builder Pro in the works for G3. Don't remember the title and putting "skin builder pro" in gets hits on any comment that has any of the individual words in it (and I think it errors out on words shorter than four letters as well). We need an "advanced search" that has filters which can be set for various types of searches like for example, "only find occurrences of the entire set/combination of words as entered". We used to be able to do this long ago.
They had that a few years ago, but when the store moved to the new e-commerce system, that functionality, sadly, ceased to be.
I miss it. That's why my wish list only has six items on it.
