@Wilmap, I sometimes get a black screen when I try to render in iray. It happened in the previous version too. The first time it happened, I made a slight adjustment to the camera and then my scene rendered. Next time it happened, I tried adjusting the camera, but it still wouldn't render. It would run for maybe 15 seconds and then complete with a black screen. I then switched that dome image out for another in the render settings and then that scene rendered. Last night I was test rendering a scene, and it worked for several attempts and then I decided to add a new light. And all at once I was getting the black render. I then moved the new light slightly and tried to render again and then it worked. Seems like when I get the black render that I have to make a small change to something and then it works. So far. Fingers crossed.
I have reported this to DAZ last night as well...and am waiting for them to fix.
It happens with the "Darkside" workspace using city limits style.
The "Hollywood" workspace seems to work fine.....but...gahhh..it is so ugly of a layout :P
(closing or undocking the panes does nothing...sorry Richard)
I have this issue in 4.8. Im surprised this is the first time people are seeing it.
Because it didnt happen in 4.8 for me
That seems to have fixed the problem for me.
Opps....I was wrong...it did work...Thanx Richard
Been a while since I've had the oppurtunity to play with Studio and today I got a nasty surprise I have avoided installing all the 4.9 series due to the connect drm issue.
So today I opened up and the screen was entirely wrong instead of the grey background I had a black background all the tabs that I had moved to my second monitor were now locked on the first monitor and I haven't been able to undock them to move them back also I have a connect tab that I didn't have before this is in 4.8.59 and my libraries was showing on my C drive instead of the G drive where I install all my content I was able to get that fixed but everything loads untextured and white
I have not installed any 4.9 not even the beta so did I miss something in one of the last 4.8 updates
Seems that a minimum width gets set to the viewport if the shader panes are docked along with the viewport. Removing the shader panes also removes the minimum width enforcement. Since the viewport cannot be shrinked beyond the minimum width (if that is set) the clipping occurs.
Could you tell us how you figured it out. I can't find it either.
On my Macbook Pro, it happens with Darkside, and absolutely did not happen before this release. It does not happen on my desktop iMac (with the public Beta version; my configuration is weird enough that I am not yet ready to ditch 4.8). Furthermore, if I lower the Macbook's screen resolution to the "default" rather than "most space" resolution, the problem then crops up in Hollywood as well.
It seems to be closely connected to the amount of screen real estate. I might suspect that the code for high res screens mentioned in the notes for this release was not tested on an assortment of Macs.
A question about the install pane: is it possible for it to display already installed items instead of items that are available to install? That way, I can uninstall things if I need to?
Also, is there a way to uninstall items that have been installed through DIM through DAZ Connect? Or is that not possible?
What do all the little corner icons in the install tab mean. Is there a guide somewhere?
No, you can't use the Install pane to view already isntalled content - that would make it a fullc lone of Smart Content. The idea of the Install pane is to provide a simple item list with a clear button to click so that people can get their cotent without having to go to the right-click menus.
No, you can't uninstall DIM content via Connect (or vice versa).
The ones at top-right? Theer should be a circle with a downward pointing arrow meaning ready to download, no icon while downloading (but a horizontal line between grey and coloured versions of the thumbnail that indicates progress), and (if you have that enabled) a new flash at bottom left once the download is complete (until all current downloads are complete, at which point the thumbnails will be removed).
Thanks for the clarification. Install pane and Smart content are nearly perfect for me. Just that Install pane shows me my metadata-less items but less flexible whereas Smart content is more flexible but doesn't show me my metadata-less items :)
The Install pane shouldn't show anything that the Smart Content pane doesn't -- what are you seeing?
I dunno if it's just me, but this version is a LOT faster rendering in Iray. Wow.
Oh, and thanks a bunch Daz for the extra layer in the Iray Uber shader. I can make use of that ;).
Laurie
I can't get it to quit on my El Capitan iMac thou...
I was away from rendering for a while and finally re-installed 4.9.2 on my Mac Pro today with OS X 10.11.5. Wow, no luck. Default Iray materials are nowhere to be found and I too cannot get the application to quit properly. Have had to force quit it (same thing happens with the latest beta).
As the last mention of force-quitting was back in May 28th, this doesn't give me much hope of getting a working system anytime soon.
