Heavy Motorcycle Road Cruiser Issue

http://www.daz3d.com/heavy-motorcycle-road-cruiser

I just purchased this great model created by Polish, but a co artist brought up an issue with the texture that I also noticed.  One of the emblems on the tank is backwards.  Can we please see about fixing this issue.  Below are two pictures, one on the Left side of tank which is ok, then if you look at the Right side of the tank, the emblem is backwards.

Would be great to get an update to this model.  Much appreciated!

Mel

If you haven't already done so, you should submit a ticket to DAZ Help>Contact Us.>Submit a ticket. Probably choose tech support for the department.

Look at the texture map. If it's not mirrored, it's an easy fix for the user. If it is mirrored, it will have to be remapped in the modeling program. Then again, maybe the vendor doesn't feel this is an issue since things like this happen often with game models

  • Thanks Charlie Judge and FsmdDesigns. Appreciate the feedback.  However, I don't feel this is something the end user should fix themselves. Some users don't know how to do that and when you pay your hard earned cash for something, you'd like it to be right, right out of the box.  Granted mistakes happen, and I'm ok with that as stuff happens, but this should be fixed by Daz or the vendor and updated, not the user. :)

The texture map is the same for both sides. So you can take it into a photo program and flip it horizontally; Then save it with a new name. Now you can apply it in DS by changing the texture in base color and do the same for the normal map.

However, this applies it to both sides; so you have to keep changing it depending on which side you are seeing.

I agree it would be much better if the vendor (DAZ or the PA) fixed tthis so you could have the correct image on both sides at the same time. As I pointed out above, the OP should submit a help ticket to DAZ to get this corrected.

It should be fairly simple to use the Geometry Editor tool to select the polygons on one side, at least those with the logo, and right-click Geometry Assignment>Create Surface from Selected, then apply the base shader to that, copy settings from the existing surface, paste to the new surface and swap out the texture for the mirrored version

My new car's steering wheel is on the wrong side.  Should I dig out my tools or is the dealership responsible? devil

Have you considered standing on your head when driving?

    That's not a software problem, that's a hardware problem.

This is something that the PA AND daz should have caught with quality control before it went live. As a customer you shouldn't have to fix something like this after spending hard earned funds. While I appreciate you pointing out a quick fix such as this, I believe a more permanent fix by the PA is in order.

was this product pulled just for this? really?

i could live with such flaws....i want.....fix it when you get a chance but put it back up and lets get on with this short life we live.....

Well, considering that the entire motorcycle is mirrored...
The air cleaner should be on the right and the horn on the left.
Hand levers and foot pedals are reversed left-to-right as well.

Here's a more important issue: the motorcycle in question has disappeared from the store altogether, What the heck happened?!

A quick note.  If you change the  x(?) scale from 100% to -100%, you can 'flip' the textures and other stuff from left to right,  This might fix your mirroring issue for renders from the appropriate side in the meantime.

Some guy that made a muscle car model with the steering wheel on the right side shared that trick in another thread discussion recently, as a quick way to move the steering wheel over to the left side.

That will work for a car as long as there's no visible lettering (logos or plates, guages) but on this motorcycle it would also be shifting the visible controls as well. Throttle and brakes go on the right, shifter and clutch on the left.
