According to the store he's $2 but I have to put in another item to bring the price down. From what I read it's a stand alone purchase or am I reading the promotion wrong?

I'm confused.
First of all, if what I'm reading in the promo is right, the extra 20% off DO's should work at least on new releases and probably on PC+ items. Dunno about gift cards and memberships. There is now standard disclaimer, so it should work on Kimo 7! But of course, if you put it in cart together, it doesn't. For now.
Second of all, "one of the releases above" could mean just "Katsu for Lee 7", since he's in the above list.
Third of all, Katsu is supposed to be 2 dollars, because he's encrypted. But he's 8.80 and only shows 2 dollars if you put another new release in car. No extra requirement for Katsu being 2 dollars is mentioned anywhere. So why do I need an extra new release in my cart?
Eq: if I'm reading the promo right, I should be able to get 20% off Kimo by bying Katsu for 2 dollars. But it doesn't work!
Katsu is 2.00 with purchase of one of tonight's releases.

Well - he is encrypted anyway, so Daz Connect only.
To get the extra 20% off DO's you have to buy one of the new releases. I imagine the DO's that qualify will be the ones in the Daz Origional store icon next to the other eligible artists store icons (bottom of page). Kimo isn't in there :( I would suggest to get Katsu for $2 the qualifying new release will have to be one other than Katsu :( I apologise if I have that wrong but I'm sure someone will help you out if so.

I don't mean to be picky, I know this is probably how it should have been phrased. But the red sentence has two stars next to it, not two stars and one star. The way I read it, is that the 50% off DO's is excluding New releases, PC+ items, GC's and memberships. But the 20% is not having that requirement. It only has the requirement that it needs to be in cart simultaniously for discount to apply.
If you want both of the requirements to apply to the 20%, make the two stars a cross and write the 20% sentence with a cross and a star.
Also, am I blind or is there no mention of Katsu needing a new release to become 2 dollars?
(I'm sorry Cris if I sound attacking, I'm very grateful for you and others trying to sort this out. It's just me trying to get the best discount out of a bad phrasing.)
The single star is after 50% off featured artists catalogs and Daz Originals. Easy to miss. I didn't see Katsu for $2 until you pointed it out! Doh!

While Katsu can trigger the extra 20%, if purchased alone, it would not be $2.00.
But it's after the first sentence, the 50% one. Not the second, the 20% one. I'm sure this is not how the promotion was intended, but if you're changing the promo, please change that as well. Then I'll swallow my not given 20%.

Pardon the mild thread hijack. Or ... well, let's put it this way. I'm glad that I had the right combination of stuff in the cart to get him for $2.00, because if I had paid much more, I would Not Be A Happy Camper.
Which is to say: why in the name of sanity doesn't he have an unscarred texture?
Basically, you get one and only one option for every part of him. (Except, amusingly enough, the gens, which comes with both Anatomical Elements options.)
I can even understand, say, not giving you the option to split his face scars in half and have a scar on one side and an unmarked side. But no unscarred options at all?
It's not even possible to take his textures into an editor and do a quick and dirty mix and match to get some sort of clean option, because you'd have to have a clean option to start with.
At the very least, his product page should very clearly state that he has no unscarred options. (Though that fact does explain why he has so few promos.)
He's also supposed to have both Iray and 3Delight options, and does, but every single material option in Smart Content has the little MDL symbol. So something got done weird in packaging. (After further digging, it turns out that his textures are divided into Materials/Iray and Materials/Masculine. That can't possibly be right; how on earth is anyone supposed to know that "Materials/Masculine" means "Materials/3Delight"?)
He's definitely ... different.
(NOTE: I'm not criticizing the quality of the PA's work. What's there is very well done. It's the absences, the weird icons and what I'm guessing is bollixed metadata that I'm talking about.)
First time buying encrypted content but I bought the Katsu for Lee 7 for 2 dollars and it was just so I could get the 50% off of Daz originals. I use DIM so Katsu for Lee 7 will never load till next year. I guess Katsu is not usable till next year. Too bad he would be great in a battle scene where someone is getting the snot kicked out of them.
