Like To See The Eyebrows On Characters / Separate Eyebrows?

Vendors- we appreciate the artistic promos, but please don't cover up the characters faces- particularly the eyebrows- when we want to see the details. Kiki is one where there the shots are a bit distant, not quite closeups.
Edit: Changed the title to match the discussion.

These two released at the same time are examples of eyebrows which are easily seen. Erika and Alruna.
Agree.
And I would add, when I'm buying a character, the skin texture is the most important aspect; which makes the nudity rules here awkward, but it is what it is. And at least the plethora of tiny bikinis make that part easy enough to remedy. Even though, there is very little of the skin showing on promos.
I even sent a PM once a main asking for more details on a resource; I didn't get a favourable response, so didn't purchase.
Couldn't agree more! You are basically selling textures, so it would make sense to see ALL the product. If nothing else, most here have a DA account, post nude promos there and link to it like some used to do when we still had Artzone.
Gotcha. Nude renders of Opal, coming right up ;)
There's another good example though of showing the eyebrows nicely - the main promo pic and two of the make-up ones make them very clear. (Thank you)
Won't be linked with the product though, already tried. ;) (M3D Jesse is a good example of a product of a lot of HD gens morphs that can't be advertised)
As the the only way people would be able to see them is to go on a hunt for them in thread link or search on DA(which once again forum users are a small part of the customer base), it's not much value in adding those promos either.
Unfortunately you're asking for something that if it doesn't add value to the set of promos it won't be included. I'm sure someone will argue the point with me but it really is what it is. Looking at the other products in their catalog, it's basically their promo style so in effect you're asking them to change their promo style that works for them so I'm doubting that will happen.
I have to confess that covered brows is soemthing I chunter about when looking at promo images - it's usually possible to see what the iner ends do, but the outer and sometimes even the middles are lost.
i have to see knee skin on character texture, sometimes is too reddish in that area,
Either LIE or actual mesh hair would do me nicely. But what about all the character textures we've already got with painted eyebrows? It's always struck me as a bit weird that we can get hair textures of all sorts of colours, but the vast majority of eyebrows are some shade or other of brown.
I do admit to frequently finding eyebrows not working for me with certain characters. Since I tend to mix and match, and want to use the skins for different characters with different haircolors, having a broader selection would be great. Particularly for the tweezed brow look which seems to be on lots of female figures but quite a few male figures.
Laticis on Deviantart has lovely, free fibermesh eyebrows for G2M and G2F, they both autofit nicely to the G3 counterparts and can be colored any shade you want. All that's left to the enduser is to take the head texture image into you photoeditor of choice and paint out the already existing eyebrows.
Maybe a script could be written that replaces the eyebrow texture with surrounding skin color from the forehead. Then it places whatever LIE texture you choose, or a fiber mesh. Actually, a mesh might cover up a lot of painted on eyebrows.
I'd love to see that. Eyebrows are a key defining character trait, so it really is weird that Daz does not have this feature already covered.
I like the Growing Up for G3 Merchant set for this reason. They use LIE for eyebrows. I'm really stunned more have not done this.
I'll certainly look up that eyebrow mesh from Laticis, thanks for that link.
That was tried before...it did not go over very well, and frankly it spent most of its life invisible. So for the next generation it was removed.
The simple fact is, if vendors can supply a dozen lip colors, eye liners and nail colors, it should be possible to supply a variety of eyebrows, too.
In the thread of features people would like to see in version 5.0, I asked for the eyebrows to be a separate zone, just like the lips are now. Quite a few people agreed with me. Seems like a no-brainer to me. It would allow the PAs a lot of flexibility in providing different eyebrow colors for their characters without requiring a lot of extra work. Although, I have no idea how much programming would be involved in adding the new zone.
I can't imagine a script being able to do a very good job of this. I've spent a lot of time in Photoshop carefully removing eyebrows, and even then it's hard to get the skin to look right, (and I've been using Photoshop since version 4.0 was current.) The best solution is to have one face texture without eyebrows. Of course, that can be problematic if you want to add different eyebrows but keep the makeup, tattoos, war paint, etc.
OMG. I HATE (passionately dislike) LIE brows. I'm very particular about the Blending of brows into the skin ton (it's harder than you think) and many of these options are just not workable in LIE. Unless, of course, you like the super sharp edges on eyebrows. I could whip those out in a second! BUT, to get a nice soft edge, I need the blending options that photoshop offers me.
However, LIE eyebrows specific to a specific skin could be done......... hmmmmmm.
I agree. And again, I propose a separate zone for eyebrows.
The reason I think it should be a separate zone is a transmap can be used to isolate just the eyebrow. In the case of a character with six makeup options and three eyebrow colors, without the zone a PA would need to provide 18 face texture maps to provide each makeup option with each eyebrow color. If the eyebrows are a separate zone, the PA could provide the different eyebrow colors on one no makeup texture each, and we could choose which eyebrow color to use via an icon, just as we do now for all the other options.
Agreed. I'm pretty saturated with characters now, but on the rare occasions when one with fair or grey eyebrows shows up it's almost always an instant purchase.
I have to say I get more irritated with painted on brows, though. Some of these figures have penciled in eyebrows, which I absolutely despise. I prefer a natural look exactly 1,000% of the time (I really don't like makeup in general, at least not strong makeup. That's also why I scream for at least promo pic that shows the no makeup option.) Most brows are all universally brown or light brown. Which is annoying when you want a red headed character and the skin has blond or black eyebrows. It instantly makes that person look like they do not have natural hair. Matching hair color and eyebrow color drives me nuts. Also, maybe you'd prefer a thick bushy brow, or a light brow. Its too bad, because the PA decides that for you unless you want to dig into Photoshop. There are skins out there that even allow you to choose how many freckles you have. But we can't figure this out for eyebrows?
I'm not sure I follow why the edges have to be sharp from LIE? We can do this. We can hit this out of the park!
Not everyone, i am sure there are probaly quite a few like me that do not use LIE
+1. My main point exactly! And how can we shrink the adults down to take advantage of the neat products that make them kids when they have Putting On The Ritz eyebrows?
We discussed Lyoness a week ago in my Art Studio thread because she set such a good example by doing LY Emi with no eyebrows. I had to ask what I was supposed to do with that, as I haven't doe LIE yet. Hope I have to learn due to MANY no brow characters! (And Lyoness, I would LOVE for you to do sets of brows! Just please do some that are also fairly natural and can be used for kids? Or do a kids pack! That's been mentioned before and no one has done it, have they?)
".... and lips for an easy all-in-one solution. Buttons for No Brow and Anatomical Elements options are included."
Yeah I'd like it if whenever the next genesis comes out they have fiber brows and lashes, and fiber hair.
Hrm wondering if its possible with iray to get an Iray decal eyebrow? Off to test the theory
Well, no, that's just wrong. A lot of us follow individual PAs and check their DevArt sites regularly for new products and WIPs, and there are PAs who use this quite effectively. If you don't use a sales tool, that's fine for you, but please don't make blanket assumptions for everyone.
Actually, I think what he's saying is that not everyone that buys products here uses the forums and would know to look on dA for renders that DAZ wouldn't allow as promo images here.
