I don't need a pin, I need an iron spike.

Is there a way to pin something so that it absolutely, 100% will not deviate from its current position come hell or high water until such time as it is unpinned?

I want to be able to pin an anatomy to a location in a scene and not have it move at all no matter how much I tug and pull and pose the rest of the figure and the current pinning system is just too anemic to do that. It's like the current pin says "well... we'd really like it if you wouldn't change your position but, you know, if you want to move we're not going to stop you". I want a pin that's more like Gunnery Sergeant Hartman where if something even twitches like it's going to move it's 2 millimeters in front of its face yelling "WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION PRIVATE!!?"

I would also like to be able to do this too. With Poser I used to be able to, for instance, keep the feet on the floor and grab the hip and move the figure into various crouching positions without the feet moving off the floor. Or do the same with a hand staying in place holding an object, and keep it there while I moved the rest of the body. I'm sure DS can do this too, but I just haven't figured out how to do this yet.

So I take that to mean it is impossible to do it in DS. Bugger!

The Active Pose tool is more rigid in pinning, but less flexible in use (drag-translation in the viweport only).

ok Richard we had this topic here and there

active pose uses translation for the rotation joints

    this tells enough
