Dead Skin on FWSA Hannah G3F model. SOLVED
I'm having an issue with one of my models. When I do a render, her skin appears like a corpse. I'm not sure if it's been doing it all along or if I just noticed but I haven't had her long. Attached is a picture. It's in Iray, DS 4.9 and used DIM to download.
From Left to Right the models are....FWSA Adaline/ FWSA Hannah/ Maria for G3F Hannah is the one that is looking not so healthy. Has anyone else run into this issue? I made sure I was applying the Iray skin. If anyone has any tips before I drag her to the back of My Content and put her down, we both would appreciate it.
Thanks

Compare the settings between the one that seems off to one of the ones you like...there are bound to be some differences, other than maps. See what those are and experiment with them...
I have never worked with maps but it doesn't sound like you're saying to try. What setting are you refering to? It's just...there are a lot of settings.
Without seeing the surface settings for each (I don't have any of the 3), it's hard to say, but the first thing I would check is the translucency weight and color. Then see if there is a diffuse color in addition to a map...then move on to the other settings...paying particular attention to any differences.
FWSA material settings are tough.
Usually great textures, but... I don't know where they get their idea for the materials, because they are... odd.
The easiest thing to change is going to be the volume settings.
Change the transmitted distance to 2.00
Change the Transmitted color to something closer to the actual skin color (its probably red or pink; you can actually sample the skin color from the face texture map, that's what I do).
Change the SSS amount to 1 or less than 1
Change the SSS direction to .3 (that's positive, its likely a negative number).
You probably also want to drop the Translucency Weight down to the 20-40 range, and most likely change the SSS Reflectance Tint to a White (240,240,240).
That ought to be a good start. It will probably look better than the other two in the image the above.
Depending on how long you've had her, the issue may be that she was set up for Studio 4.8 Iray in a specific way, and in Studio 4.9, she looks off.
On the Surfaces tab, look at the item called "SSS Reflectance Tint". (You may need to use "Show Hidden Properties" to be able to see that.) If it's a pale yellow or white, then her shader was set up more or less for 4.9 and up. If it's a pale blue, she was set up for 4.8, and you need to switch that to a very pale yellow to make the blue go away.
Ahhhh, that makes some sense. I haven't had her long but that doesn't mean she hasn't been out for awhile. Even though she is a G3 model. I don't know.
Anyway, thank you both for the specifics. Evilded777, just to make sure, all those setting are under the surfaces tab as well with the character selected right? (I'm not home right now or I'd check) vwrangler mentioned the SSS Reflectance Tint was so I just want to know where to target.
Sorry I didn't see the final post here, but I guess you are doing better!
Yes! if anyone else has this problem, Evilded777 has the right settings! My gals are healthy and normal again which is a relief because they are great figures and I hated not being able to use them.
I wouldn't call them "right"...but thanks. They are different, based on personal experimentation and the work of people who understand the physics of this stuff much better than I do. I'm glad I could help.
